Hi folks
throwing together tuna, olives and whatever veggies into a sauce to have with pasta for tea...so apart from some iTunes spends by OH (£5) there has been a spend on bread and cake to keep us going through the rain but that's it. £3.20 in total on food today so still hoping to make a good OP by end of the week
Hope everyone is having fun. Here's hoping better weather too for the rest of the week, too much rain in the last 48 hrs for my liking!MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

I worked last night - so I should have been sleeping but... sometimes to get yet more inspiration on my debt-busting journey I read the mortgage-free wannabes diaries, some people have good jobs and would rather pay off their mortgage than fritter their money away. Some have modest incomes and scrimp and save to make overpayments. Some want to buy bigger houses, and some want to do a 4-day week and retire early. Whatever the reason it's good to read about people trying to eliminate their biggest debt.
Today I have also been reading a diary on the savings and investment board - Savings Log of a 26 year old on low pay, I am only on page 8 but it shows what you can do on a minimum/just above minimum wage.
I then went on you tube and watched Dave Ramsey's Breaking the chains of debt. What I got from it is that you have to work like mad to get out of debt, which means working hard sometimes in a job you don't like, to get out of debt so that you don't have to ever do that job again. That is how I feel about my job at the moment, but tonight when I go to work I will know that I am doing what's necessary to clear my debt as quickly as possible, I may not like it (at the moment, that may change) but it's what's needed and each shift is one less shift I have to do, and one shift closer to financial freedom. There's no easy route you have to work hard and make sacrifices and I'd rather do that now than later.
As I have been at home a SFD for me.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
Hi all,
Congratulations Mrs Toast on the safe arrival of baby Maisie :T
Well I tried this challenge last month "unofficially" because I was too late to sign up and thought I did really well. What on earth has happened to me this month, i think I must be having performance anxiety now because I've gone 'official' :rotfl:
Our month started on the 25th so that may be one reason but this month is running away from me fast. Scores on the doors so far are...
Food - £125 / £150
Petrol - £140 / £160
Entertaining - £160 / £250
NSD - 6 / 20

Now on paper the OH is completely on board with this but I find I always spend more when they come shopping with me. I suppose I feel mean saying no when they want things
On the plus side when we did the last 0% rate switch we overestimated by £25 so that will definitely come in useful. Crikey this is going to be a tough month.
I'm off to check out the old style boards to figure out how to get the most out of my food this month
Good luck to everyone and keep posting as its reading all your lovely posts which reminds me I'm not the only one fighting the good fight

A late update on my progress, as filled the tank up again........ yesterday meaning a SD rather a NSD but that's life, the weather poor but the cricket was great.
After slowly going through my figures and checking whats for what I should be having my CC paid off tomorrow, making a small 0.22% OP on mortgage 1 and roughly a 1/4 repayment on loan 1 so life is not as bad at times if you sit down and think about it in a positive manner.
On top of that today will also be NSD as have left over's from last nights dinner, made by a friend.
Also, congratulation to Mrs Toast and little MaisieHope you're both doing well
Will put my spending figures and updated signature as and when payments have been completed tomorrow.
Everyone keep up the amazing work that you have all started and together as a team, we'll all pull through it.2013 Goals - Credit Card - Repaid in full on 06/08/2013 - £1,313.92 / Mortgage 1 - Repaid £865.96/£3,500.00 / Mortgage 2 - Repaid £1,132.74/£3,650.00 / Loan 1 - Repaid £571.30/£1,983.64 / Loan 2 - Repaid £318.97/£3,026.01

To deal with my pregnancy hunger pangs cheaply. I just made a few massive batches of a stew/soup concoction for my work lunches containing onion, peas, kale, kidney beans, garlic and chicken qnd duck stock, most of which have been lurking in the back of my freezer. Bulked it out with some plain couscous. Sounds odd but is yummy.
This month I'm def in the right spirit. I think being pregnant actually helps as I can't do certain things like drink and smoke which saves money and makes be want to be more healthy and money savvy in other areas. Fingers crossed it persists....DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
