  • Ohhhh almost the same as me!!! When is your DFD?? I have another £140 possibly in a week to throw at it!!:T

I was hoping for the end of the year but realistically it will be February's pay cheque (providing I actually have a job then!!)

I do have stuff to sell and some piggy banks to empty and am thinking positively (annoying the absolute tits off myself frankly!) about it being as soon as possible.

It is on 0% tho so it's not a dire emergency. Plus as I still haven't used all the money from the original loan I do have savings but since I still need that money I won't use it to pay of the debts. I know this seems nuts to some people but I only have work till December so am very reluctant to have 0 savings, I just feel I would end up in debt again and never break the cycle.

    Stops rambling.........finally!

  • Hello all, Congrats Mrs Toast on baby Maisie

So far I've managed 3 sfd, I could have avoided 1 of them if I'd planned better :( as Friday I had to get my 2 boys birthday cards for their party on Sunday and buy a couple of bits for a stall I was doing at the weekend. But on the plus side I was exhibiting at a baby fair on Saturday and didn't spend a penny! I even got DH to drive me down and pick me up so I didn't have to pay for parking. Another sfd yesterday as I'd bought all the birthday bits on Friday.

Today is allocated food shopping and petrol day so no sfd. I've also paid £12.01 to send my camera away for repair, I've been putting it off for months but finally bit the bullet as it's totally stuffed now.

  • Did my donation to the foodbank today. Shopping done for the next 2 weeks, apart from fresh fruit/some veg. Tomorrow should be my first SFD of the month.

All lunches at home until 19 Aug when I go back to work. I always take a packed lunch/HM snacks to work so should be ok there. I take a glass and use the water cooler in the staff room for water - don't usually bother with tea or coffee.

Dinners all planned for next 2 weeks. Will be doing some batch cooking and filling the freezer.

No toiletries needed this month in terms of shampoo/moisturiser etc. Did buy mouthwash and toothpaste today - have moved to Mr T value mouthwash as only 40p and its ok. I usually buy sensodyne toothpaste but teeth been ok so going to try Mr T own brand and see how it goes.

Days 'out' - 1xcoffee/catch up with friend at her house. 1xcoffee/catch up with friend at my house. 1xday out with OH to Stirling Castle - Nil spend(apart form petrol getting there) as using Historic Scotland membership and will take a packed lunch with us.

    Hello Almighty August Superstars!

Everyone sounds to be doing good and it's causing more thinking and evaluation of spending habits.

I now have 2/20 SFDs. Yesterday was another. Tomorrow & Weds I'm working so should be SFDs. Other budget updates:

Food budget: 37.04/120. Been to Lidl this morning, list in one hand, calculator (on mob) in the other. I totted up a total of £41.24 prior to the till and my budget is x3 £40 shops. So I went back round and swapped/removed a couple things. Mum had offered loo roll, so taking her up on that (cheap 2ply but beggars can't be choosers). Just need to get some flour (for making bread) & pasta from Sainies (Lidl doesn't do wholemeal/wheat) which I'm sure is possible on nearly £3. Very pleased with myself.

Fuel/car budget: 0/50. 3/4 tank in mine & same in Hubby's. We use his car wherever possible as its diesel and better fuel economy plus much newer (mine is 12yo, his 5yo). Worked out average pence per mile too- mine 17p his 11p. MSE thing to do right?

In more exciting news- as I'd said I have printed this challenge out and pinned it to the fridge. Hubby looked at it but it wasn't until last night that he said he'd like to do it too. Ie the SFDs and alcohol FDs too. Woop. It's good to have him on board. It'll definitely help. Go Team!

Cash generating: A big item I had on eB@y didn't sell.. Bit annoying as hoped it'd fetch £300. But got some more on at the moment, just DVDs etc. Planning to do a car boot soon too- decluttering lots! Nearly got enough to pay out on both pureprofile & quidc0 (=£35). Sealed pot is made and awaiting coins!

    Go MSErs!

Fyggy I love that the OH is onboard. Whoop!!! Out with my cousin who has paid for juice so I might be looking at an SFD! But we shall see. I haven't seen her in a year and if ever there was a time to dip into the 'misc' fund it's here!

Might be more fun planned at the county fair tomorrow.. Nowt more amusing than baby cows, ducks, chicks etc...:-))..(easily amused)..

More from me later. Allie I'm impressed with the food plan for 2 weeks?? Brilliant. Might do that myself now before I go home!

    Onwards Augusteers!!!

Not that busy in work today :o so I've been watching superscrimpers too at lunch and been looking up cheap foods that are filling. At the moment I'm so hungry all the time but obviously want to eat healthily on the cheap and avoid gaining more than in my last pregnancy.

...on the birth of Masie, Mrs Toast

Awesome news! On the home front I had a day off and had to bring my spend day forward as had pretty much run out of protein based food items!!! Freezer and fridge are re-stocked and tuna in the cupboards! I even got the 'Basics' range of fish and salad. Honestly can't tell the difference. Anyhow, signatures updated.

Stashed a few more £1 and £2 in the old money tin - hopefully come December 31st that will have accumulated to become a fair chunk off my remaining debts.

Having an evening in now so will wish you all a good one!!!
