Do these DVDs actually work when you put them on - or do you need to ring a number to activate them (which is where they'll make their money)?
PS this seems to be turning into a Hatton Garden Metals threadNO MORE HANDWASH GLITCHES PLEASE:D

Dvd's don't work like that, I'm assuming if you rang the number to unsubscribe it would charge you alot of money and that is the scam.0 -

They can, and this one does.0 -
Received the same two DVD's today. The last thing I have been involved with regard to web transaction is I recycled my phone last week. I doubt whether the company involved would have had a direct marketing database turnaround as quick as that but I guess you never know. Once I got over the initial shock and checked it out, they have gone straight in the bin in the same manner that I deal with ppi calls and junk email.0

Yup - I think they use the chapters to 'hide' content, and the top-level menu to grant access provided the right pin is entered. It's easily circumvented, but only with a computer. DVD players just get the menu and a screen asking you to text/ring a number to get the code.
I'd post a screenshot of the pin-screen (safe for work!) but as I'm a newbie the forum won't let me. The text/telephone number in the menu (different to printed on the DVD) is how they're hoping to make money from this, however.0 -
To view each and every scene you must call a number at a cost of £1.53 per minute for 6mins 40 secs = approx £10.25 or text at a cost of £10 to receive a pin number which you then type in on your dvd remote. Take it from me watching !!!!!! in 2013 is a little easier not to mention cheaper than this. All this leads to me thinking DON'T put into your PC, I'm guessing if you do the scam will show itself.0

I received two hard-core disks this morning with a local return address.
I'm a VERY broad minded guy but what if a kid had opened these?
I called Advice Guide on 08454 040506 and the really helpful guy there noted all the details and then, at the end of the call, suggested that I call the Met Police locally and ask for the 'vice office'.
I did call and they couldn't have been more helpful and have made an appointment to interview me and seize the goods tomorrow.
I'll keep you posted.0 -
Hi folks. I got the 2 dvds in the post this morning as well. I'm in the south west england. Was a bit concerned when i opened envelope. Royal Mail would only be able to tell you company name and even then they probably have a secrecy thing.....0

The company registered at that address is a massive direct mail fulfilment company who handle fulfilment for 'legitimate' brands, many of which you will recognise.
Google the full return address and you will see what I mean.
I wonder if an employee is using them to send out scam mail.
I will suggest to the police, when they visit, that they might want to inform them that their legitimate business is being used in this way.0
