    . My husband's grateful too - he gets dreadful back-ache if he has to sleep on the sofa! ;)

    :rotfl::rotfl:

    Luckily, I opened the post while my wife was standing next to me, else I would be living in fear of the 'chilli oil in the underpants' revenge.

    There must be people who have received these through the post who haven't found this post via Google - needing them to register to post as Newbies to join the discussion whilst existing forum members who have got them haven't needed to join - or don't have interweb access sleeping in the spare room or on the sofa!

  • Well, I'm pleased to see the vast majority are a little more welcoming than Tally-Ho.

    I called my Mother on Monday, she told me I had some post, I said I wasn't expecting anything & asked her to open it... I'll get your Dad to open it she said, I heard her cover the receiver and ask "is it dirty?"

    Imagine my horror, the shame, the humiliation. Anyway, my Dad googled the address & told me about this thread. The delivery address was in Coventry, I have purchased on eBay & Amazon recently but don't recognise any of the UB business'. I have also used the comparison sites that have been mentioned. I've also been declared bankrupt in the past, which was my first thought as to where the details came from, however, you all seem a little more reputable than me so guess that's not the case.

    When I finally pluck up the courage to show my face at my Parent's house I'm going to look into who owns the copyright of the material & see if any law has been broken there. Fingers crossed we can nail the company & have them shut down... oh, wait, sorry Tally-Ho, I forgot... all of us have conspired to make up this thirteen page thread... what a deluded ****nut!

    Google rip off report guthy renker big company quite a few complaints
    That postcode of UB14. 7nl. is guthy renker American company with uk site
    (North end farm) greenford, the mail order warehouse.( what is the NI1130 in front of the address)

    The landline number given for guthy renker translates to another north end farm , the bungalow, fleece farm, 52 midway ,south crossland Huddersfield ,hd4. 7da Yorkshire.poultry farmer

    See guthy renker on Wikipedia- the do Internet and infomercials on tv for celebrity endorsed beauty products ( Victoria principal and and acne products , zumba stuff and wen hair and mineral makeup etc)-sky digital channel 643 TVSHOP , quite close to bidtv, they seem to use a call centre in wavertree Liverpool, I think. I got the call centre from googling the 0151 fax number guthy renker use

    My hub also received these. They were sent to his parents address where he hasn't lived for more than 5 years. So the source of the addresses might be old.

    Could someone find out from bt who owns the 0844 number?

    I've just phoned BT and it's not recognised by their system. I'm not entirely surprised by this as there are many companies out there who buy 0843/4/5/0870 etc numbers from BT and then sell them (and their own tariffs) on to businesses to use to generate revenue.

    Given the positive response nigelbrooks has received from the Met Police vice team (see his posts nos. 59, 61, 132 & 177), I'm sure they will use all their powers to investigate this matter - I'd love to hear the final outcome, but I'd be happy just not to receive any more unsolicited !!!!!!! :j

    Katy (if I may) et al, if I get any feedback at all or anything hits my local press (as both my home and the distribution centre for this material are in the same borough) I will post details here.
