There's got to be a connection here! I buy a bit off eBay but off reputable people, rarely off Amazon. It sounds like a broad spectrum of people have received this, including women.

I'm struggling to see where the scam is here, you have to pay what sounds like a tenner to view it (if it floats your boat) the 0844 number is only 5p a minute, and the DVD looks to be genuine, and not some moody copy.

So where's the catch? I've stuck the DVD in after unplugging the Internet, looks very low grade not that I'm an expert. Another user on here has hacked the code, so its not rocket science. Someone on here has posted about a protest regarding Cameron attacking online !!!!!! but this is a DVD?

I'm well and truly baffled as to what these people wish to achieve??
  • I also got them.

In the interests of 'research' I hacked them if you can call it that (very easy)

The discs are genuine enough but as others have posted, the scam seems to be that to watch normally, you need to get a code to unlock. As with most scams, they will make money from those that will just follow instructions and not realise.
Wouldn't waste your money personally ;)

I agree there's got to be some connection, and a lot of people are saying ebay, but I've never bought anything off ebay and I don't even have an ebay account, I have however used CDWow and Amazon.

The problem is already with the number of people that have commented on this thread, there's numerous possibilities already, so I suspect we won't find where the information came from.

When I have to use my real name, and can't use an alias, I use slightly different versions of my name and address for different site types. The one that I have had these disks sent to is the one I use for insurance comparison sites. So, my question is, is one of these selling on details, or is it one of the companies that quote on them? Like others on the list, I am ex directory and on opt out elec. roll

This post is the strongest hint at a possible culprit IMO, if PhatGit (love the username LOL) used the name on the package only for comparison sites.

No pr0n discs here either :(:p
  • I ordered a cable from Safekom earlier this month.

If anyone can actually prove a link between them and these !!!!!! merchants I will raise hell with eBay and inform the police as well.

There are quite a few people on here who have recently purchased something through safekom, so perhaps they are the link. I got an hdmi cable off eBay.

Sounds like the postman left with a full sack this morning, bet he emptied it by the time he got home.

For anyone who wants to watch it just press the >> button on your remote, starts playing straight away.

Another newbie... Yep - another two received here too!

Alarmingly, the number on my envelope was in the 16000's _pale_

I really want to get to the bottom of this! Was so relieved my kids didn't open the envelope - I'd be livid

Like previous posters, given such widespread targets, it would lend itself to the lists of a comparison website. Personally, I've used both the main insurance comparison sites.

If anyone has any thoughts or gets anywhere with resolving this, please share. I'm no prude, but this 'scam' is just so irresponsible given the content of the material and the likelihood of minors getting hold of it. I'll check back regularly with interest.

Greenford also has a UB postcode. Coincidence?

UB covers a large area. I have friends with businesses in the UB postcode area so possibly (probably) a coincidence.

Hi, we received these discs too and opened them infront of our 3 and 5 year old. Not happy.

They can only have used Amazon address details as they sent them to another address we send items to from my husband's Amazon account which is nearby and also has the discs.

We called Amazon but they claim to know nothing about it!

  • By the way, if the number above my husband's name on the envelope is his unique identifier on their mailing list then these pond-life have only sent out a few hundred of these today, but has anyone got a 4-digit, or even higher, number? (Would give us an idea of the scale of their disgusting operation.)

The numeric code above the address is nothing more than a 'pre-sort' code for business post for Royal Mail. It enables business post users to get a discount by 'pre-sorting' their bulk mail into delivery area 'bundles'.

I get lots of post with the same numeric code coming from businesses.

I still have the feeling that this a rogue activity hiding behind a legitimate fulfilment operation. I'll wait to see what my interview with the Met Police brings forth especially as I now know that such material cannot be legitimately sent from UK addresses.
