Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

It's not an EC. They are having you on. Are you sure how late the flight was? You don't have to accept a voucher but if they were to offer MORE than you'd get in cash you might wish to accept.0

Thanks, yes 3hrs 9mins and easyjet confirm this in their reply.0

Was that 3 hours 9 mins late departing, or arriving?0

Hi,
It was 3 hours 23 mins late departing and 3 hours 9 mins late arriving.0 -
Just had a successful claim against KLM, in 3 days!
Last September we were flying from Amsterdam back to Aberdeen, the inbound flight was struck by lightning - and our flight on that plane was cancelled. Waited 7 hours in Amsterdam for the next available flight home.
KLM have offered us (£212) each, or (£295 KLM voucher). There was 3 of us on the booking, and the flights originally costed £350.
Used the resolver tool, which was simple to use. Brilliant.0 -
Hi,
I hope someone can help me with this.
I received an email this morning from Vueling to say there was a change to my itinerary. It is a completely unacceptable change I and hope that we can be compensated for it.
The flights were booked through Vueling on 21/9/16. The original flight was to leave Edinburgh 16/3/17 at 1255 and arrive in Paris Orly 16/3/17 at 1550. The return flight was to leave Paris 20/3/17 at 1255 and arrive in Edinburgh 20/3/17 at 1340.
This was changed on the 14/10/16. The outbound flight did not change and still was to leave Edinburgh 16/3/17 at 1255 and arrive in Paris Orly 16/3/17 at 1550. However the new return flight was from Paris Orly 20/3/17 at 1240 and arrive in Edinburgh 20/3/17 at 1325. This was not a problem.
The change today (28/11/16) is completely unacceptable and it is with this that I hope to be compensated somehow. The new flight departs Edinburgh 17/3/17 (one day later) at 1320 and arrives in Barcelona 17/3/17 at 1700. The connection then leaves Barcelona 17/3/17 at 1910 and arrives Paris Orly 17/3/17 at 2100. I find this to be bad enough but the return flight is even worse. The return flight leaves Paris 26/03/17 (6 days later than planned) at 1740 and arrives in Edinburgh 26/3/17 at 1835.
(This is an edit to add more info. I thought I would add that the flight number - VY9344 - has not changed for the return flight. So essentially the same flight has been changed from 20/3/17 to 26/3/17. The outgoing flight has been changed. I assume it must have been cancelled. Having looked at the terms and conditions it seems like I have a right to claim this back).
I'm desperately hoping that something can be done about this. This was supposed to be a trip with my girlfriend to celebrate our 5th anniversary!
Does anybody have some advice for me?
Warm regards,
Conor
This is what the terms and conditions say about cancellations:
The Regulation stipulates that the operating air carrier is under no
obligation to pay passengers compensation:
(1)• If it can prove that the cancellation is caused by extraordinary
circumstances which could not have been avoided even if all
reasonable measures had been taken (cases of political instability,
meteorological conditions incompatible with the operation
of the flight concerned, security risks, unexpected flight safety
shortcomings and strikes that affect the operation of an operating
air carrier).
(2)• If passengers are informed of the cancellation between two
weeks and seven days before the scheduled time of departure
and are offered re-routing, allowing them to depart no more
than two hours before the scheduled time of departure and to
reach their final destination less than four hours after the
scheduled time of arrival.
(3)• If passengers are informed of the cancellation less than seven
days before the scheduled time of departure and are offered
re-routing, allowing them to depart no more than one hour
before the scheduled time of departure and to reach their final
destination less than two hours after the scheduled time of
arrival.
If none of the above circumstances apply, passengers with a
confirmed reservation for a cancelled flight shall be entitled to:
A. €250* for all flights of less than 1500 km0 -
Hi Conor. Unfortunately there is not a lot you can due here other than get a full refund from Vueling. Compensation is only due if you are given less than 14 days notice.
Put it down to experience, get on skyscanner or google flights and rebook on different airline/route and consider other airlines than Vueling in future. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

It looks like Vueling are dropping this non-stop route for a couple of months. No flights between 30th Jan and 26th March (I assume to concentrate on ski flights or similar)
This unfortunately can happen with flights booked in advance, with all airlines you risk schedule changes
As said, no compensation is due. You can ask to be rebooked on another airline but there are no other carriers that fly direct to Orly (and there is nothing in the regulations to force an airline to book onto another airline) so your best bet is probably a refund and rebook with AF or Easyjet to CDG0 -
Oh no, that's terrible!
I can't believe they can change a flight by 6 days and get away with it. That completely defeats the point of booking ahead.
I've submitted a complaint and will wait to see what comes back but if it is only a refund then I will be very disappointed. It will certainly be the last time I book with them.
Warm regards,

Thanks for your advice.
I've rebooked with Easyjet.
That will be the last time I'll book with Vueling. Very disappointed to hear that airlines can change a flight almost a week later and give no compensation.
Warm regards,
