I think you have been caught out by the inherent fault in booking cheap flights you are going to come unstuck sometimes. I agree with the good Dr.0

Hi,
Update on the previous posts Wizz Air are still upholding their original response even after I have issued a NBA, so I have approached Bott & Co.
Just received all relevant documentation from them and have just read through, and am slightly concerned regarding some of the wording. I think my main concern is that I will be liable to pay opponents charges and disbursements if I lose the case.
Just need a little reassurance that this case looks pretty ‘standard’ and that chances of being unsuccessful are minimal?
Any thoughts/advice would be welcome
Thanks

Hi guys,
Will my claim be upheld? Flights from 06:35 Tromso > 08:30 Oslo 10:25 > Manchester 11:25. Flying with SAS.
Here are the details in short.
- Flight booked for 06:35 departure, arrived on time, everyone boarded with zero problems by 06:25 or so
- 06:40 we are informed of a technical error and they have called technicians. Techs arrive and start looking into it shortly after.
- 07:00 we are informed there is a part that needs replacing and we have to leave the plane. Everyone is given food vouchers with good credit.
- 07:35 we are informed the new departure time is 10:15 as parts have to be sent from Oslo
- 07:55 we are informed the new departure time from TOS is 12:30. At this point I que and request to have my flights changed to the following day as I have no idea what time I would've arrived back in Manchester as there are no direct flights from Oslo to Manchester later that day (minimum 5 hour travel).
- 08:15 They rebook me on the same flights for tomorrow as I requested. I collect my bags, leave the airport and go back into the city.
- 09:45 I receive a text from SAS updating the original delayed flight departure to 10:20. This flight arrives in Oslo at 12:09.
I would have still missed the connecting flight in Oslo at 10:25 and I'm sure they would have put me on another flight but when I left the airport the departure was still 12:30. So will my desicion to change flights to the next day and their compliance result in a rejected claim?
Thanks for any input guys.0 -

JPears, the date was today 7/6/16. Flight sk4403, it actually left at 10:22 according to Flightstats app on my phone, a 3h39m delay. Connecting flight would have been sk4609. Thanks :money:0

Your claim should not be affected since reg 261/2004 allows the passenger to rebook /reroute on flights convenient to the passenger.
And your original flight was still over 3 hours late.
Did you pay additional accomadation costs? If so you should be able to claim these too, as they would have had to accomadate you if you had got the original flight and ended up marooned in Oslo.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

JPears, thank you for your replies.
I didn't have to pay any extra fees etc as I have accommodation available thankfully. However my rebooked flight for the next day 8/6/16 (same flight number) was also delayed, with what I'm assuming was the same fault, as the exact same scenario as the day before took place. I decided to slog it out though as there were impending pilot strikes that were to start from the 9th. Finally arriving at MAN 6 hours later than planned, my luggage was also delayed and should be with my today.0 -
jinjan - if you had been really canny, and for future reference, if you had requested a refund (as is your right if > 5 hours delay indicated) and re-booked the next flight yourself (assuming no massive increase in price) which was then delayed itself by 3 hours, you could have claimed compensation x 2!If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Compensation for Ryan Air flight cancellation
Hi all,
Looking for some advice on whether I would be eligible for a claim/compensation. Circumstances as follows:
Flight FR7542 - 26/05/2016 - Flight from MAN to BCN at 06:45 due to land circa 09:00
- Ryan Air send text message 25/05/2016 12:03 advising of the cancelled flight with link to rebook
- 25/05/2016 Login to Ryanair website, no option to rebook as we have already checked in
- 25/05/2016 Called Ryan air on a number of occasions, unable to get through. Eventually get through to be advised we can rebook to alternative flight if we find one.
- 25/05/2016 Ryanair appear to have cancelled all flights we could find so there was no alternative ( France Air traffic control strike )
- 25/05/2016 We book alternative flights with KLM from LBA to AMS flight KL1548 Then AMS to BCN KL1675
- 26/05/2016 Arrive at Barcelona circa 19:00
Return flights were also via an alternative airline. The total additional cost per person was somewhere in the region of £450 and we lost approximately 10 hours .
As RyanAir were not in a position to be able to offer any alternative flights are they responsible to issue compensation?0
