I flew back from Cape Verde last year, and the plane was well on course to be 4+ hours late (it departed 5 hours late).
However, shortly into the flight someone fell ill and we had to divert to Lisbon (they shouldn't have been flying anyway but that's another story). All in all we were around 6-7 hours late. I guess though because of the medical emergency Thomson got a "get out of jail free" card?0 -
Obviously, check with flightstats, read Vauban's guide. Your claim seems simply to be that you would have been late enough to claim without the diversion. Also were the airline incompetent in letting a sick passenger board as you imply? Seems worth a try at least.0

Got the flightstats page up but it's saying the flight was just under 3 hours late, so I've got the wife digging out the original paperwork.
It's a tricky one with the sick passenger. They collapsed at the hotel in the morning, and then collapsed again at the airport. Didn't seem to have any paramedics at the airport in Boa Vista so it was firemen attending to her (who I assume gave her the OK). Ultimately though, she collapsed again on the plane, which is what prompted the diversion.0 -
Can anyone help, Have sent a letter to Thomson re delay and the have said they are looking in to it this was in Feb for a January delay and I have not herd anything since I have contacted them again and all the say is were lookin in to it. Is there any time scale for them to get back to you thanks0

You dictate the time scale but sounds like they are fobbing you off. Read Vauban's Guide and 'put it up them'.0

Hi,
Flight:- Aberdeen to Manchester
I was booked on a flight Which was delayed for 2 and 1/2 hours before being cancelled
(Technical fault).
I was then transferred on to another flight which got me to my destination just over 3hrs later than my original booked flight (3hrs 10 mins)
Which compensation and how much do I claim for,
Cancelled Compensation?
Delayed over 3hrs Compensation
Or can I not claim because the new flight they gave me was on time (even though we arrived over 3 hrs later to our destination airport than that of our original booked flight)?
Regards

Cancelled flight with new arrival time more than 2 hours later than original
Have a look at Vauban's Guide...all the info you will need is there0 -
We booked a return trip to the USA with Virgin Atlantic. The two outward flights were with Delta as was the first homeward one. The last was supposed to be a Virgin Atlantic flight from JFK to LHR.
On the return journey our first flight was delayed causing us to miss the connecting Virgin flight to London. Delta rebooked us on a Delta flight which was subsequently delayed by 5 hours (co-pilot medical problem).
Can we claim compensation? Any advice would be very welcome.0 -
you were delayed on a Delta domestic US flight. EU261 does not apply. You could see what your travel insurance pays but many do not start payout till 12 hour delay0
