In some cases the judge may award you additional costs if you can justify them.

  • “ Hi , I had a flight delay of 28 hours in July 2008, I tried several times between 2008-2013 trying to get flight compensation , however was told it was technical error and despite going through the CAA and the aviation authorities in Portugal never received compensation. When the new ruling took place in June 2014 I tried yet again knowing that they was a back log , I contacted Thomason several times over the last several months and have the email response from Thomson confirming this but I never heard anything back regarding my compensation. I have today rang Thomson to be told nothing on file and also I am out the 6 year window.
I am so frustrated as I have tried and kept all my proof and now Thomson are stating the 6 year ruling when I tried several times

Very frustrating - it's almost as if some airlines string out the correspondence hoping that passengers will miss the deadline for bringing court action ....

Yep tawilson - Thomson have played you. You could complain to CAA about their deliberate procrastination but it will do little to help you.

Delta have now said we can't claim because of air traffic control restrictions.

What happened was that we landed half hour late and then the plane missed the slot at the gate so we had to wait on the tarmac for another half hour, this meant we missed our connecting flight.

Delta first said we couldn't claim as the 2nd flight wasn't part of the EU.

Is there any point trying to continue trying to claim?
  • Hi MSE,
I have a question about a recent flight cancellation. The flight was an internal flight within Norway which connected with another airline ticket back to Manchester, U.K. The flight got cancelled when I was already on the plane due to an engine failure. The airline offered a seat on their next flight about 7 hours later (which also got delayed!) or an alternative way of getting to the destination (Oslo). I chose the alternative which involved a taxi & 4 hour train ride which the airline paid for. However this still meant I missed my connection causing a new ticket for £450 to be charged. In the end I arrived home over 10 hours late.
My question is, can I claim compensation even if they paid for alternative transport to the destination (arriving more than 4 hours late) & can I get the extra flight ticket charge refunded?
    Thanks, Nick

Was your ticket with the same airline to Manchester?
You should compensation since you arrived more than 3 hours after the scheduled arrival time.
Read Vauban's guide and reg 261/2004.
This is a circumstance where you could have got both a refund and compo, if you had made your own travel arrangements to Oslo

  • It was a different airline to Manchester. The internal flight was with a small regional airline...
  • Hi,

    wonder if anyone can help.

i booked via skyscanners for a china southern flight out of manchester to manila with two stopovers in paris and china.

all was well till the china stopover where i was bumped off my connecting flight to manila due to overbooking. there was a 12 hour delay till the next flight- now they did put us up in a hotel overnight and give us (crap) food in a bag.

as my delay was in china will i still be able to claim

    thank you in advance
