Well done. If the £180 was for one person for that flight it seems about the right amount. Were you on your own?0

I was recently delayed for 10 hrs in Tenerife on a monarch flight bound for Manchester. The agents acting for Monarch were Iberia and they were able to move some passengers(including me) onto another monarch flight. This flight arrived in Manchester some 7.5 hrs after the original flight was due to arrive. Will this flight transfer affect any claim for compensation for a delay over 3hrs??0

What was the circumstances of your delay what happened to the original flight?0

The original flight was grounded at Manchester due to technical problems. The spare plane was flown from Birmingham to Manchester and then on to Tenerife. The original flight arrived in Manchester 40 mins after the flight I had been transferred onto.0

Grab a cup or two of coffee or a bottle of red ...... download Vauban's Guide and read thoroughly ...... issue NBA ...... MAYBE go to court (or use a NWNF) ..... future posts on Monarch thread please (if any) ..... enjoy your compensation.0 -
In Oct 2012 our SAA (South African Airways) flight from Heathrow to Cape Town via Johannesburg (all same airline and ticket) was cancelled during boarding because the pilot was discovered to be "sick". We were all put in hotel over night and flew the (same flight number) next morning once pilot was "recovered" but we had obviously missed our connecting Johannesburg to Cape Town flight.
We got to JHB at midnight by which time domestics had closed so put into another hotel and flew next day to CPT. Then found luggage was lost.
SAA are saying due to pilot taking ill not being a planned problem and because we were put in hotel, we cannot claim.
Are we entitled to compensation?0 -
They are wrong you are due compensation read Vaubans guide and start from there.0

Hello,
I am Hoping someone would be able to guide me here. As this si the first time I have been offloaded a flight.
I was travelling to Cyprus from Gatwick via Easy Jet. 13:00 flight on 13/2/2016 for a 4 day holiday with a friend.
I checked in as usual and when the call was made went to the boarding gates to board the flight.
At the boarding gate my friend and me we asked to wait till all passengers had boarded the flight. Then we were informed that there is a deportee on the flight and that one of us ( my friend and me) will not be able to fly to accommodate the deportee.
Question 1. Can a airline offload a passenger involuntarily to accommodate a deportee? I have tried googling but unable to find any relevant info.
I was made to give up my seat. I was then offered a replacement flight at 5:00 am the next day and stay at a hotel overnight and compensation Euro 400
at 16:00 they asked if I wanted to fly to Milan and then they will find a connecting flight from Milan ( no time given ). I refused this. Then they offered me a flight on 14/02/2016 at 11:00. At this point I lost my cool and decided to go back home after taking all the relevant claim details.
I have now been offered refund of my flight charges + Euro 400 as compensation.
Question 2: Can I claim for hotel bookings in Cyprus + travel to and from the airport in taxi or is it included in the compensation?
Thanks for your help0 -

this would fall under involuntary denied boarding and would be covered under EU261. The fact that it was for a deportee is no different to them having oversold the flight

This appears to be the correct compensation for denied boarding

As your delay was due to be over 5 hours you can indeed decide not to travel and receive a refund plus the compensation

The hotel in Cyprus and taxis are consequential losses. Probably best to speak to your travel insurance
Any idea why you and your friend were "chosen" to be the ones that had to lose a seat?
The airline is meant to ask for volunteers. It seems unfair if they did not as there may well have been people on the flight that a 22 hour delay would not have affected as much0
