Okay this was not strictly a delay but it's nice to see someone else helping to make sure airlines behave themselves.

The odd thing is that I am not 100% sure he would have won had Ryanair bothered to turn up from reading the article.0 -

Thanks for the reply, yes we flew into Gatwick then onto Glasgow from MCO with BA. I take it we would be best to submit a letter requesting compensation, should I be requesting a certain amount and do I need back up information; boarding pass etc.
There is a step by step guide available known as 'Vauban's Guide' but I'm not sure how to post a link to it now.
Yes, you need to submit a claim form (in the guide) and start the ball rolling. Obviously only send photocopies of boarding cards etc.0 -

Hello,
Does anybody know whether you can claim compensation if your flight is delayed due to “late loaders” and you miss your connecting flight as a result?
I have contacted Lufthansa a couple of times and they said that our flight was “delayed as a result of the late loaders. Please be advised that Lufthansa will not be held liable in this instance as the reason of flight delay is outside our sphere of influence” and they refuse to offer any compensation even though we arrived at our destination 4 hours late as a result.
I also checked Flightstats and it says “Runway Delay N/A”.
Should I insist to Lufthansa that we are owed compensation in this case?
Thank you for any advice you may be able to give us.0 -

I would say that it is not necessarily outside of Lufthansa's sphere of influenc. They could have departed on time by leaving the 'late loaders' behind
Did they define what a 'late loader' was? A passenger? A Ground Handler loading bags? The above is just my opinon - which counts for nowt! You must make up your own mind.0 -
If the 'late' passengers' bags were on the aircraft and the captain thought it would take longer to offload the bags than to chivvy the latecomers then this would seem 'outside their sphere of influence' although it's difficult to see this taking more than 3 hours. If this delay was less than 3 hours but caused an overall delay of more than 3 hours in arriving at your destination outside the EC then the waters are muddier. Results have been mixed but seem to lean in your favour if it was a single ticket from an EU airline.0

I would definitely pursue a claim IMHO it's entirely within the airlines control, although I'm not sure how easy it is to claim from Lufthansa.
Have a read through Vaubans guide and issue an NBA see what happens..

In Sept 2015 our flight Naxos to Athens was delayed by 5 hours, causing us to miss our Athens to London flight, both booked through Aegean Airways on a single booking. We are clearly due 250 euros each for the Naxos - Athens flight delay, BUT:
1. the Naxos- Athens leg was actually an Olympic flight (OA7) with a joint Aegean number (A37007 I think) - is our claim with Olympic rather than Aegean?
2. can we instead claim 400 euros each as our actual booking was Naxos - London (>1500km) and we arrived 14 hours late due to the missed flight - if so is our claim with Aegean or Olympic; and does anyone have contact details for Aegean other than their Greece office?
(by the way my reason for claiming is I lost a days work due to the delay)
Thanks0 -
Have a read of Vauban's Guide on proceeding
Claim is against the operating airline - sp Olympic
If on one ticket then compensation based on arrival at final destination

I'm sorry if this isn't the correct space for this but I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice.
On 24th January 2016 I booked flights for: 2nd March 2016 from Madrid to São Paulo (layover in Morocco) with Royal Air Maroc.
I live in the UK so on 8th February I booked a flight from UK to Madrid with Iberia. This flight is due to arrive 1st of March around 10pm so as I had to be at the airport for the Sao Paolo flight the next day around 7:30am I was planning on waiting at the airport for that one night.
Royal Air Maroc cancelled my flight a few days ago (both) to São Paulo and I have been forced to reschedule the Sao Paulo flight to 4th March and now, through no fault of my own, I will now have to pay out hundreds of pounds to find somewhere to stay for three/ two nights (1st, 2nd and 3rd) in Madrid as my flight to Madrid is non-refundable not to mention the disappointment of cutting my trip short by two days and I only happened to find the cancellation email (in French which I couldn't understand fully) in my Junk folder (the email did look like a fake, poorly set out and automatically filtered to junk because it looked as such) - had I have not randomly checked, I would have only found out when checking in 24 hrs before which would already be too late and find me stranded in Madrid.
Any advice greatly received. I have already complained to Royal Air Maroc.0
