Trixie (I'll miss out the second part!) - read Vauban's Guide and go from there.
  • Trixie, see my post above - Thomsons didn't get moving until I actually issued a claim. I know that's not the case every time but I do wonder if the majority of the time they just ignore you to see if you are serious about issuing. They didn't even respond to me when I asked what had caused the delay to our replacement aircraft so I had to issue a claim not knowing the reason for one of the delays.
  • Martin et al,

Just wanted to say an immense thank you. Six of us were delayed on an Easyjet flight from Palma to Liverpool last summer. the thought of applying fro compensation had been nagging me for ages but I never got round to doing anything. A month ago, with an hour to spare, using the template letter on MSE, I wrote to Easyjet asking for compensation. After receiving an initial holding email, I heard nothing for a fortnight so I sent another mail to chase. A day or two later, I received an email from Easyjet, to say that they had been inundated with claims and didn't have my information, so they were requesting the details of my claim t be resubmitted. I followed the instructions and within a day, a named Easyjet representative had contacted me confirming that the six of us were entitled to €400 each in compensation - a total of €2400!
After picking myself up from the floor and lifting my jaw off the kitchen table, I sent back further details and received a phone call the following morning from the Easyjet representative. Today, I received the cash in my account.
I cannot speak highly enough of Easyjet and the excellent customer service I received from them. And, of course, I wouldn't have been in the position to make the claim with such efficacy if it wasn't for the information on MSE. Thank you again!

Hang on NA! It looks like the £100 is in addition to any 261/2004 claim - 'goodwill' .... Sander314 send an email to Norwegian to get written confirmation that the £100 is no in lieu of any claim.

Asked Norwegian this, finally got a reply. Also asked them if they 'ignore the CAA like they ignore the UK supreme court'.
Thank you for your mail. If on a later occasion you will be provided EU compensation then yes, this goodwill compensation will be deducted from it.

Norwegian follows the decisions made by CAA but please notice all cases are handled individually and you have to open your own case with CAA.

Not sure they can do that, its either a goodwill gesture or its not, they cant say its a goodwill gesture but we'll take it back if we owe you compensation, it also quite clearly says

In addition to your pending case in your previous post
  • Hi all

New to this forum. I was after an opinion on whether we may be eligible for compensation. We travelled to Turkey on our honeymoon in 2011 with our almost 3 year old son. The day of our return saw Turkey have some terrible rainfall and tr plane we were due to go home on was diverted to another airport. It eventually arrived at the airport for our delayed departure but on arrival it was deemed that there was not enough crew with enough flying hours remaining to take us home. We were delayed around 24 hours which was a pretty traumatic experience with such a young one. My instinct says that they delay will be attributed to bad weather but the actual delay to our flight was a result of crew flying hours.

    Any views?

    Many thanks

    Mark

Not straightforward, but yes you have a claim. Partly because the weather didn't affect you flight directly but also because 24 hours is too long for the airline to demonstrate it took every measure to minimise the delay. Have a read of my guide.
