Thats great. not trying to poo poo your success but you can ask for cash instead if you prefer.
I know, but we want to use it for another holiday to exactly the same place. Although we don't rate Thomas Cook greatly, we figure it's better the devil you know and they are the only ones who offer the whole package and it works out to be the most competitive price too.0 -
Is there not something funny that if you use vouchers then 261/2004 won't cover you?0

Yes that's right, as technically you didn't pay a fare for your tickets, it has been used to avoid paying compensation before by the airlines should you be that unfortunate to be delayed again. After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Maybe they can pay 90% of the fare in vouchers and 10% cash.0 -

Good idea, similar to section 75 claims for credit cards?
Don't think it would work though, muddies the water too much. The airlines would argue that it wasn't a commercially available fare, at the amount paid in cash. After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Hi,
Is there a way to check the actual reason why a flight was delayed? I was on a Ryanair flight that was delayed for five hours, I know that the reason for this was that the plane we were supposed to fly on was used to replace a charter flight before it flew us home, this is what we were told by the pilot, but Ryanair claim that the delay was due to exceptional circumstances?
Thanks

You don't need to know why .... you have a valid claim against Ryanair so your post should be on the Ryanair thread but firstly read Vauban's Guide and thereafter any posts by the good Doctor on the Ryanair thread. Enjoy your compensation as the circumstances were not extraordinary.0 -
Hey, thanks for that!0

Hi MSE
I booked flights to Bangkok via Bahrain from London Heathrow with Gulf Air. The first leg of the flight to Bahrain was on time but the connecting flight was delayed meaning we arrived to Bangkok 4 hours late.
My question is can I claim under EU law as the flight was booked with one airline from london - Bangkok? Or, because it was the Bahrain - Bangkok leg of the flight, am I not covered? Thanks0
