I wrote to the CAA in August 2014. They sent an automated reply but I have heard nothing since. Can anyone advise me how long they have waited pleasesgych25
nothing since the automated reply 23.08.2013!!! I call Thomson weekly to see what my claim status is though.
I don't know how many times it's been said on here, but forget the CAA and simply issue the NBA, that's the starting point, exchanging table tennis letters with the airline is highly likely to be a waste of paper and ink, or more appropriately these days simply wear your fingers away.
If the airline Company do want to be reasonable with you, they will settle the claim before proceedings but probably not till they receive the NBA
Cheers

You've been calling Thomson's weekly since 2013? What do they say?
As NA says, it's generally a waste of time to try and reason with the airlines. It's not until you start a court process, and show you're serious, that they take you seriously.
That said, Thomson do seem to have started to pay out on most legitimate claims. So it might be worth putting them on notice that they have 28 days to reply to your case, or you will start legal proceedings (which they will have to pay for).0 -
myself and 3 friends booked a 1 week holiday through olympic holiday to greek island of skiathos, for the summer 2013
we were due to leave on the friday from birmingham at approx 11.30am-12 noon, but long story cut short we ended up flying from gatwick the following day at about 12noon ish.
so our holiday was basically 6 days only.
so basically more then the 3 hours mentioned, but who do we claim from olympic holidays or their 3rd party airline who i think was small planet?
to me i should be claiming from the holiday company, who then should claim their compensation from the airline!
but if i am reading this correctly do we just claim from small planet?
if i can have this sorted as looks like due approx 400 euro each which would be nice.
anyhelp in this matter would be grateful.0 -

Hi,
I have 2 claims with thomas cook for which i am trying to claim
the first was from manchester to sanford int in florida and it was 31/5/2008
I submitted a claim as this flight was delayed for 24hrs and i was more annoyed as we were only going for 3 nights to view a property
I have sent them copies of my flight ticket stubs along with copies of hotel reservation car hire confirmation etc
At the time I was told it was unforeseen circumstances and when the new legislation was passed i re applied
they now been asked for my documents again and i can not find them as we have moved house since then but they did have copies from my original complaint
I do have copies of my car hire and hotel etc but cant find my flight confirmation and i have also changed email address so i think the original was sent to an old email address
surely they have lists of who flew on what flight on their database ??
we were given a 4 hr delay, then a further 4 hr delay and vouchers for food and then put up in a hotel in manchester for the night and the flight left a day late at the time it was supposed to leave the day before
Flight No was TCX473K
Second one was a mini break 4 nights to gran canaria for my husbands 40th last july from manchester
our flight was delayed by 4 hrs and my claim was put on hold for the outcome of the Jet2 appeal
Since this appeal was lost I asked for an update and was told as the delay was due to a technical fault not inherent in the normal course of activity and in fact it was a manufacturing defect on a part they had replaced on the plane and this is classed as extraordinary circumstances so they are unable to offer compensation
they have also reviewed my case again and again told me their findings are correct
Can anyone tell me if this is correct or should I pursue this further
I would appreciate the advice
Thanks in Advance0 -

Unless you have submitted a court claim against Thomas Cook you are out of time .... they have strung you along and they know it!
Don't let Jet2 do the same to you. Legitimate claim and they should pay out.0 -
Hi,
I was hoping for some advice on my case.
I flew with easyjet from Bournemouth to Geneva in March 2014. The flight was delayed over 3 hours.
At the time, the pilot told us (when we eventually got on the plane) that it was delayed because it had to bail out another plane and take passengers to another destination first before landing in Bournemouth.
However, when I wrote to easyjet they claimed it was due to the following: The technical issues developed in your flight was a CIDS (Cabin Intercommunication Data System) fault and caused the sytem to fail on ground at Geneva aiport ground. Th explanation by the pilot was accurate. the delay the EU Regulation 261/2004 confirmed that you are not entiteled to compensation.
When I refuted this, they insisted that this was the reason and disregarded what I said about the inconsistency in the explanations.
I appealed with the CAA but they replied saying that although I was probably entitled to a claim, easyjet had not got back to them and therefore they could not progress the case.
Any thoughts would be appreciated as I am sure that this is not sufficient reason from the CAA to close the case and as you can see they info received from easyjet has been extremely questionable.
Thanks,

what do i need to do next regarding Thomas cook for the gran canaria flight ?
Re Orlando Flight Yes stringing this out was exactly what I stated they were trying to do but as my claim was made early last year do you think i still have a case??

Yes I think I'm right in saying both your claims are against Thomas Cook?
Jet2 got pulled in because your case was stayed, pending the Jet2 SC appeal.
1 st claim..... Unless you commenced legal action within six years, 111KAB is of course correct, you stand very little if no chance at all at claiming.
2nd Claim as 111KAB says, sounds valid and you need to issue an NBA start by reading Vaubans guideAfter reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!
