  • We were delayed for days due to the volcanic eruption in spring 2010, we were flying with American Airlines from Manchester to New York. Eventually our flight was cancelled & we had to rebook, but we couldn't go for as long that time. It took months to get the original money back as they wouldn't transfer the flights so had to pay out again & eventually got that money thanks to having paid by credit card. We were 2 adults 12 yr old & 18mth old (who we had to pay a nominal fee for) are we entitled to anything??? First time I've posted hope I've put it in the right place?!

If you can be bothered, but I'm not sure I would, I would point out to the person who wrote you that letter that your claim should be assessed under English law - which is very clear on the matter - and that if you do not receive a commitment to pay you the compensation to which you are entitled then you Jet2 can explain their position to a judge. They have become quite used to getting spanked in court, so they know the ropes ...

Before I post the NBA, ive had contact from the Hellenic CAA asking me to fill out a complaint form. Is it worth doing this first?

This may be very clear to many people but I need clarification. On 19th January my flight to Iceland was cancelled when you talk about "compensation" is this an amount over the cost of the holiday which was booked as a package with Icelandair. First time of posting so hope the format is correct.

    Oh dear,
Don't you just hate it when, 'you know what' features on Martin's show?
Now I must admit that without him, and this website, we (regulars that is) possibly wouldn't be as involved and maybe informed, but get ready for the forum becoming extremely cluttered over the next day or so.
What I really wish is that instead of Martin saying ' find the template letters and information on the internet' is that he would 'push' viewers to this forum, and to the most informative and useful post on here- yes our Lord Prof Vaubans guide.
And please give the viewers the names of the pseudonym's -who take the time and effort to post on here regularly, and clearly have the experience and knowledge to guide new claimants through the process.
Quite simply, if these pseudonyms take the time to answer your question- through their experience, there's a good chance they know what they are talking about.
    Rant over.
Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

    Current known score:-
Dr Watson 35 - 0 Ryanair / Ince and Co

Go to post 622 on the Ryanair thread to read how to sue them safely.

MSE just created the space on this website, MSE hasn't held any hands and guided people directly through the maze, we have to thank cityboy and centpede100, ian41, shona99 of recent years to the current well known posters/regulars.

MSE doesn't seem to shout as loudly about absolute rights to re-routing, which deserves a higher profile.

  • Hi

Myself and my girlfriend were flying from newcastle airport to egypt, our plane was due to depart at 9am but we were delayed till 6pm. When we finally got on our flight we flew for 4.5 hours then the pilot said we had to turn around and fly back to manchester because the engine over heated and the only place that had the equipment to fix this was in manchester. By the time we landed In manchester (3am ish) we were made to walk to a hotel while our thomascook reps managed to find a coach and get a lift lol. We flew Very late the next day meaning by the time we touched down in egypt we were 28 Hours delayed.we got £20 each back from our insurance cover and thats it! Can i still claim compensation even if i accepted the £20?

IN a word. yes. As long as it was less than 6 years ago, your airline hasn't gone bust and you make the time and effort to read Vauban's most excellent guide.
If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
