How does that make for a 12 hour delay?
If Monarch produced a new pilot within two hours of arriving back at Gatwick, this seems a reasonable response to something that it likely to be regarded as "extraordinary".0 -

Ok thankyou for your response. The 12 hour delay is worked on the fact we left BHX at 23.45 and didnt get to ZTH until 13.00

The scheduled arrival was 05:00 so if the actual arrival was 13:00, you were delayed 8 hours0 -
We were delayed by more than 4 hours flying to the Dominican Republic in September 2014. We used MSE template (citing the legal stuff) to contact Thomsons as soon as we got back and got a "we are really busy" type of reply. After another 6 weeks had passed I chased and today we got a cheque for £470 - the amount anticipated using the handy table to calculate compensation. Many thanks Martin!!!0

Caribbean queen - not questioning you but when you say 'we' was there more than one of you? It sounds as though you should have received 600€ pp ie around £470 pp .... I hope Thomson haven't diddled you .... I would not put it past them!0

Hi
Have a question regarding the recent Swanwick Air traffic computer failure which occured on Friday 12th December PM.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-30454240
We were on a flight which was due to leave BHX but the events of above unfolded and the flight was delayed and we sat on the tarmac for nearly 2 hours.
We eventually arrived at our destination 3 hours late, we had a connecting flight but luckily were ok as the same plane was used so we didn't miss a flight.
I took our comprehensive travel insurance with Coverforyou.com.
Do we have any grounds of making a claim?
Thank you0 -
We did what you suggested, using your templates and obtained compensation of 800 euros for a flight delay of 9.5 hours in 2012 between Faro and Gatwick.
EasyJet did not quibble and were polite and helpful - the money was transferred to the purchasing card within 10 days of their agreeing to the claim.
Thank you all - without your article on this we would never have dreamed of compensation - so a great unexpected Christmas present.
Going to Funchal next with Easyjet in the New Year!0 -

I am wondering if my daughter is eligible to claim compensation for her Air France flight to Tokyo on Boxing day...
We arrived at Manchester airport in plenty of time and she checked her bags in at the Flybe check in desk (1st part of flight was to Paris arranged by Air France through Flybe) her flight was due to take off at 5.30pm and boarding was supposed to be at 5pm, however she updated me by text to say they were only just boarding at 5.29pm and she'd got soaked in the rain getting on the plane! Then she messaged me to say that while they were boarding the rain had turned to snow and small amount of snow was on one of the wings and that the pilot had requested it to be de iced which wouldn't take long...
At 8.20pm (almost 3 hours later:eek: - bear in mind she was sat on a plane with no refreshments) she messaged me to say they were waiting to take off, which also meant her flight from Paris to Tokyo had already left and that the pilot was not amused that it had taken so long!
I checked flights into Paris and saw the flight after hers arrived 15 mins before hers and had only a delay of 38 mins!!, whereas hers was 151 mins late - meaning the problem wasn't really the weather but the planes had not been "de-iced" in turn!
She obviously missed her connection and things were made worse by the horrible attitude of some of the staff in Paris that resulted in my daughter being reduce to tears! Eventually she was told she would stay overnight at hotel and fly the next afternoon at 1.40pm resulting in her arriving in Tokyo 16hrs 30mins later than scheduled.
Does anyone know if she would be able to claim as if they had flown at original time non of this would've happened!!!Growing old is manditory, Growing up is optional! :j0
