    Hi Dainty,

    Welcome to the forum, please read Vaubans guide & post in the dedicated Ryanair thread...all your questions have been answered.

    As to the CAA, I just knew our new friendship wouldn't last long!
    PS Couldn't get the link to work to the CAA as posted, try this one

  • Suggestion to improve Vaubans category 2.1 a.

    add this category;
    * Even if you go for a refund of your original ticket, rather than accept the airlines alternative, meaning you don't travel, you can claim compensation based on the timings of the alternative flight offered.

    * Clarify 'arrival at least 3 hours late'. The CAA website and the MSE main pages say compensation is available even when the offered flight arrives LESS than 2/3 hrs later than the cancelled flight.

    * maybe add the implicit criterion 'have a confirmed ticket'

    Thanks for a great guide.
    I have just been given 11 days notice of cancellation by TAP and an offer of an alternative flight 2 days later. After checking with her supervisor the TAP rep refused to re-book me on another carrier which offered an equivalent flight on the same day, so I cant make the trip with TAP. Hence my suggestion to add the above category of eligible compensation

    So you're getting the refund and your compensation I hope? Insist it is paid within a short time frame. How foolish of them not to book you on a different airline.

    Indeed but so extraordinary as to not have its own thread where poster should have started!

    Yes, that's why I didn't give the reply too much thought.

    Posters, often want a short cut to compensation, these are ideal potential customers of the NWNF solicitors, others will read the 'sticky' threads, then ask any questions that they think haven't been answered before, it seemed strange 'hijacking' a thread in the middle of a discussion about the CAA, it would be helpful if the more experienced members of this forum were given sufficient 'permissions' to move posts and help keep things tidy, (I don't include myself) but hey we live with things as they are....

    Now back to the CAA, what a bunch of idiots!

  • I was stuck in Tenerife for 3 days by the ash cloud. Compensation was the last thing on my mind as Thomson kept us in the same hotel and upgraded us to full board. 3 extra days' holiday so far as I was concerned.

    I was living in Washington DC and had the mother-in-law staying. She stayed an extra week before Virgin flew her home. There's no compensation for that ...
  • I was stuck at home doing the cleaning, didn't get at compensation from the Mrs...

    dainty should still get the extra days in the hotel paid for though ?
