thanks Vauban, how do I find these threads?0

The first in on the front page of the forum, the second is probably now buried but I'll bounce it up.
Edit: In fact they're both on the front page: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=251&order=desc0 -
We were delayed in 2008 when our BMI flight was completely disabled due a major technical fault, of course we do not have the boarding cards after all that time. I contacted BA giving them exact time, date and fault and even the make of airplane and included statement of payment for the flight. Even though they say they have all the details of flights for BMI they say they have no record of this one. I don't think they can be bothered looking - the flight was delayed for at least 7 hours!! CAA will not look at it unless we can provide booking proof.0

Hi...I'm a newbie on here so please bear with me!!
I flew from Cardiff to Larnaca back in July 2011. I don't know the exact date but I know it was just before the children broke up from school for the summer. The flight was delayed for over 8 hrs. Needless to say we were fed up and I'm looking to claim some compensate from the airline, Thomson. The flight was delayed due to a technical fault.
I've looked at the flightstats website and have found a flight from Cardiff to Larnaca on 20th July 2011. Unfortunately there is no info on the delay just says no info.
I also have no proof ie tickets etc that I was on the flight.
Any ideas??
Thanks0 -

without any kind of proof it's going to be very difficult I'm afraid. Did you not get an email itinerary for the flight?May'18 DEBT FREE!

You can make a SAR (search the forum if you need to) re your being on the flight. To confirm the date have you no digital photos with the date on or mobile phone records, bank statements showing foreign cash withdrawals, credit card statements for overseas purchases?0 -
I have recently applied for compensation for a delayed monarch flight back in September 2005. I have just had a reply from them to say that it is over 6 years so I cannot claim. Has anyone got any info on the length of time you have to claim.0

Yes. In practice, it's 6 years. You are out of time, unfortunately.0 -
from the FAQs - Anything from 17th Feb 2005 -you can claim but if the airline says no - you can't take them to court
so no airline is going to pay up if it longer than 6 years ago as they know full well if they say NO then that is the end of it and there is nothing you can do0 -
We travelled on business to San Diego via Chicago in 2008 and had a thoroughly miserable trip. We arrived in Chicago but the last connection that day had left. Our luggage went on separately and the assistance at the airport did not extend beyond a list of recommended hotels to try. We ended up in a scary and freezing cold motel and were put on 'stand-by' the next morning. (It's been hard to turn this into a funny story)
Still somewhat aggrieved over five years later we gave the MSE advice and forms a try.
The response from United was friendly and helpful with a cheque arriving for £1,415. (Our inability to provide all the documentation requested was not used as an excuse to reject the claim)
Many thanks Martin as the guidance was excellent and compliments to United for their customer service and responsiveness.0
