Watchdog was interesting last night on this subject. I have emailed T Cook again and if I am not satisfied with their answer as to what part of my flight's technical fault they classify as "extraordinary circumstances" I will take them to the Small claims Court.

Hi all newbie here, just watched BBC watchdog and I'm sure I heard them say " if your delayed from a non eu country but are landing in an eu country, your entitled to claim compensation"? We were delayed over ten hours, and were finally told on the flight home by the captain that our original aircraft had broken down. Are we able to make a claim?

If it is an EU airline you can claim whether you were delayed departing from the EU or returning from non-EU to the EU
If it is a non-EU airline you can claim if you were delayed departing from the EU but not if your delay was on a flight departing outside the EU even if it was operating to the EU
  • Hope I'm posting in the correct place, apologies if not.
Can anyone please tell me the postal address to use for requesting delay compensation from Cathay Pacific?
I can see a Hong Kong address on their website but the only UK address I can find is:
Ticket Desk, Area B, Terminal 3 Departures, Heathrow Airport.
Is that the address I need to use.

Our flight was delayed 5 1/2 hours from heathrow to hong kong in dec 2007 so need to act fast as it's close to the 6 year limitation period.
    Thanks.

They won't tell you the reason they will say its a private internal matter forcing you to take them to court only once you have served court papers will they divulge the reason

+ if an ex-partner sounds as though no longer 'linked' so get cash and keep to yourself :)

  • Hi
wonder if anyone could give me some advice please. On 14th September i left Romania on a flight via Amsterdam to Edinburgh the flight was 2 hours late departing and then because of this did not arrive in Edinburgh until the following day. KLM did put me in a hotel for the night which was ok but didnt arrive at the hotel until 23:00 and had to be back at the airport for 06:30 following morning. The reason we were told the flight was delayed leaving Romania was that the plane had been held up by check-in issues in Paris? not sure what that had to do with it however ironically on our outbound flight which was 2 hours delayed allegedly the reason for that delay was a aircraft had to be flow in from Paris as there was a technical fault with the plane meant to be taking us. Anyhow my query is since we arrived at our final destination 11 hours after scheduled is this a good case for compensation? and also i have complained to KLM on the 15th Sept and heard nothing since. All flights were booked directly with KLM.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
  • Hi All, would be grateful if someone could shed some light on this matter please.

TOM7709 due to fly from Faro to Birmingham @ 11.25AM on Sun 6th Oct, pilot announced that due to a FLAPS problem the flight would be delayed for maybe over 5hrs, we were put up in a hotel & given a voucher for 8 euros to use in airport lounge.... we boarded again at 6.30AM on 7th Oct & took off at 7AM.... flight delay 19hr 52min.... distance 1100 miles.

    Thanks in advance
    Steve
