    Hi
can anyone adive me if i can get a make a claim? 4 of us were delayed firstly by one hr from London to Dubai but this meant we missed our commecting flight to Singapore snd were stuck in Dubai airport for 6 hrs meaning we arrived late at night and had to separt Singapore the next day to pick up our cruise ship. we had no time to see Singapore. both flights were with Emerites and were booked together as a package. flight was delayed from london 'due to fog in Dubai?

The fog is likely to be classed as exceptional circumstances and outside the airlines control so no compensation

Did the fog delay your flight? Or the incoming flight? If the latter, you'd have a claim IMHO. If you were delayed in London waiting for fog to clear in Dubai, however, that would be "extraordinary circumstances".
  • Can anyone advise me about delayed flights from Jersey to Bristol as they are not covered under the EU laws.
My party of four were due back on the 28 June 13 when we were informed that our plane had broken down. They tried to get another plane but this could not then land due to fog. We were offered a refund but this was no good to us as we needed to get back home. We were then booked onto to next available flight to Bristol which was two days later. We were left to find our own accommodation, transport and food. Two days later we arrived back at jersey airport for our flight home to later be told this had now been cancelled as plane had broken down in Paris.
Finally got flight back on the Monday some three days later.
I have made contact with Blue Island Airways to claim a refund of hotel, food and transport cost and provided them with copies of all receipts and as yet they are not replying to my emails.
    Any help would be great

    Hi,

We (9) of us arrived at Manchester airport 7am monday to be told the flight was cancelled to florida.
They offered us a flight for the following thurs for 5 of us and the remaining 4 on Friday.

    This being us airways.

It was only because we did our own work that we managed to get a flight together the next day with a different airline.

Would we be entitled to a claim.?

Yes you would - unless the cause was extraordinary circumstances. Why was the flight cancelled?

At the risk of stating the obvious a claimant should never accept any story from an airline at face value. Whether it's fog, a closed runway or an alien abduction, check with another independent source whether there is any truth in their story. It might be entirely fictitious.
  • Who was friendofBillW2 having a go at? All of us?

    No, not all of 'you'.

Just anyone who asks a question that has been answered in the FAQs on page 1 of any of the specific airline threads or, just as annoyingly, the latest page of the topic they are posting on.

And once you've been here a few months it will be driving you nuts too...

dust cloud = out of airlines control = exceptional circumstances = no compensation
Can you show that other airlines were flying the route during that time?

If you had to pay for your own hotel and meals you would be able to reclaim these costs by sending in receipts

Presume this should have read 2010 otherwise you are out of time as you can only claim for flight delays going back 6 years ;)
