FLIGHT TCX915K - 16/08/09
This is just a quick update for everyone communicating with Thomas Cook. After reading through all of the posts and comparing my current communication with them, they are trying to "fob us all off" and hopefully we will be put off pursuing the matter further after receiving their 'pro-forma' letters. I have been communicating with them since Dec 2012 - their current is "the specific circumstances surrounding your own flight were of a technical nature, which were extraordinary", slightly different wording depending on who is handling your correspondence.
My flight situation was - due to depart Glasgow Airport 1150hrs due to arrive 1820hrs (local time) Dalaman Airport, sitting at gate watched as our plane taxied and left airport, advised by handling staff our plane was needed for passengers going to/from Alberta, Canada, informed two hours later our flight was cancelled but we were being bused to MANCHESTER where a flight was leaving that night, endured the bus journey, arrived at Manchester Airport and bundled onto flight around 2100hrs, arrived Dalaman Airport 0300hrs approx!!
I am just about to send my last letter requesting them to reply in writing detailing what the specific meaning of their "specific circumstances being of a technical nature, which were extraordinary". I have already advised them that should the matter not be concluded satisfactorily, I will progress the matter with the CAA and legal proceedings if required (noted in my first letter).

I've been trying to claim compensation for a flight we were on in 2011 that was delayed at Birmingham Airport for around 8 hours.. We booked through Olympic holidays and the airline was Sky Wings.
After getting no response from Skywings after writing a number of letters and emails I also contacted the CAA. However, after further investigation (through a very unhelpful and slow to respond online chat advisor on the Olympic Holidays website) I've now found that Sky Wings has since gone into liquidation. Can anyone confirm this, or had the same trouble? I'd really like this compensation money I seem to be entitled to, does anyone know if theres any way around it? :huh:0 -

Their website is still at skywingsairlines.com ... their subsidiary's website is still at sunnysmile.gr/en/ ... and their contact details are at http://www.gtp.gr/TDirectoryDetails.asp?ID=64296
If the transaction value of the tickets was £100+ and any of that went on a credit card, you could make a s.75 claim against your card issuer. This method seems not to be approved by MSE advisers but I'll help guide you through the maze if you want a hand taking that route.0 -
A section 75 CCA claim appears to be your only route left laura.0

Won't the credit card bank just say the service was supplied, flying A to B, no valid claim?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

A flight isn't like a TV though ?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Yes I agree. The flight was also taken, which IMO would be successfully argued as the supply of the goods.0
