Jet2 :
"...On investigation extraordinary circumstances led to the delay of your flight...moreover specifically the delay was caused by an unexpected flight safety shortcoming, consequently there is no compensation on this occasion."
It's getting a bit tiresome these lame excuses.

It has taken me whike to respons sorry, and thanks for your comment,
KLM response was that tey would only pay the £8 she spent and as a goodwill geture make it up to £41 ,therefore they have not acknowledged the delay.
I have tried to check on flight stats but I must be doing something wrong as i can't get it to show any other date than today.
Any more advice appreciated.

I think that local county courts can still accept money claims if the limitation is due to expire within 5 days, otherwise they must now go to the County Court Money Claims Centre in Salford and be issued by the Northampton County Court (or MCOL).0

On Friends advice we posted on American Airlines Facebook page last night and received a request to send a private message straight back so have sent a copy of the email lets see if it beats the 8 week queue.0 -
Good morning!
I want to claim compensation from Hellenic Imperial Airways for both the outgoing and return legs of a London Gatwick to Athens flight. The former was delayed 19 hours (we slept in a super lux airport hotel!). The latter was cancelled and I was offered a seat on another airline's flight to London Heathrow (rather than Gatwick), which arrived 9 hours later than the initial scheduled arrival time.
I had sent them the standard EU complaint forms to their UK and Greek offices, but they didn't reply at all. Now I'm sending them a second round of letters (or emails?) (stating the EU court decision etc.) and if they don't, I'm gonna take it to the CAA. The thing is I'm confused as to whether I should split the two cases and deal the first with their UK office-->UK CAA-->UK small courts (if required) and the second with their Greek counterparts. Or can I deal with everything using the UK institutions, given the sturdy UK CAA and the fast, cheap and painless small courts here?
Note I'm fluent in both English & Greek.
I will really appreciate your advice!
Any further advice/info absolutely welcome!0 -
Good morning,
Yet another Ryanair customer here.
On 24/12/12, I was scheduled on a 09:50 from Bratislava (Slovakia) to Stansted flight. However, at the time of departure, we were still in the lounge and told our plane had landed in Prague due to fog. At 11:30 we were all put on a coach to Prague, which was a 5.5 hour journey, and eventually made it onto the plane around 6 in the evening and landed in Stansted approx. half 7. I also had to rearrange my travel home.
The flight was originally meant to land at 11:15, so the delay was wayy more than 5 hours, and of course we weren't given any refreshments or phone calls.
I've already contacted Ryanair who shot down any gesture of a refund or compensation. I read somewhere in the article that delays over 5 hours would require some sort of reimbursement regardless of weather.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated0 -

As you (eventually) flew there is no reimbursement.
Hi thanks for your reply
I checked flightstats, and my flight was 7.25 hours late
There was also a flight to LTN scheduled an hour after my flight which was also 7 hours delayed - They were travelling with us to Prague where their plane also landed
Also, there were 2 other flights to Dublin and Brussels departing from Bratislava around the same time (08:50 and 11:15 respectively - both with Ryanair) however the status of those says unknown ??
Just had a quick re-read of the article:
"Flight delayed by five hours or more? You could get a refund and compensation
Crucially, to get a refund, it doesn't matter whose fault the problem was. Unlike with compensation, even if it's totally out of the airline's control, such as bad weather, you are entitled to it."
So you don't think it's worth chasing?0 -
Hi Meg100
We were delayed by 24 hrs on 26th Nov we complained on American Airlines website after calling the customers services number whilst in the USA and being told you can speak to no one. Search on their website for customer complaints and it comes up with an on line form to complete you then pick complaints then scroll down to the EC reg part. You then have to complete the boxes , we completed the MSE template and copied and pasted into the comments box and it gets sent automatically we received an automated response from a noreply email.
We did this on the 28th Nov then this Monday received an email advising we could claim and they were sending us a $1000 travel voucher each to be used within one year but American Airlines must be the transatlantic carrier so this rules out flying to Boston as that's BA.
I rang the CAA helpline and they advised that we had a right to cash compensation so I have tried to contact AA but no phone calls allowed and no direct email.
We have sent off the complaint form again quoting our complaint number and no expect to have to wait another 8 weeks.
We will post on here if we receive a reply.
What's so very frustrating is that the A A customer services rep at Manchester told us it would be automatic and they would contact us within a few days of our cancellation.
Hi Ruth
Thank you for the information. If I don't hear within the 14 days I'll try that route. Good luck with your claim. At least AA seem to be taking claims seriously. We wouldn't mind the vouchers as we go to Vegas every year.0 -
Having spent some time attempting to find out all the relevant details for an 8 hour delay with British Airways back in 2007, I entered the details on their website only to get it refused as the flight was for more than 6 years ago. This is despite the MSE article saying 'claim back to Feb 2005'.
Yours frustratedly,
