A word of warning, if you lose the airline's travel costs and possibly overnight stay (if more than 600 miles from their offices) will not be insubstantial...!
But good luck for next week and let us know the outcome.
I know, bit of a worry, but I cant see what option I have.. Thought the point of small mails was so your not exposed to the costs.
I have read and heard that costs can only be awarded if one side has acted unreasonably, the claim was frivalus or with malice.
Given its gone this far, and the 2 NEB agreements I hope a DJ agrees.
Will let you know how it goes.0 -
Mark2spark could a thread not be started for Thomas Cook, would be interesting to see how many people are getting refused
I think its an excellent idea to now split this thread off into individual airlines and is something I was going to suggest.
There's just too much information in this thread now. At 10 pages a night 6 nights a week (Sundays off for good bahaviour
) it would take over a month to read it. So please be don't harsh on people who come in and ask a question that was dealt with 100 pages back. 0 -

As we speak, Centipede has decided to also start separate threads for each airline.
These can be accessed through the 'forum jump' box at the bottom of the page.
Please - all readers of this thread - be aware that neither I, Centipede, Richardw, blindman, and several others, are employed by MSE, and that therefore each different airline thread will simply be too much for us to follow.
The Faq's will shortly be posted in each thread for a starting referral point for people, easily looked up as it will be on page 1.

I'll be referring new questions to the new dedicated airline threads from now.0

Thank you everyone at MSE for updating us about the compensation rule and the template letter. We've just had a 1200€ refund from Sri Lankan following an 18 hour delay in 2009 - they couldn't get the cargo doors to shut...
The process is quite slow - there was a 4 week delay whilst they waited for their HQ in Columbo to confirm we were on the flight and then they only agreed to pay up if we could provide our specific ticket numbers - which they knew but would not give to us for 'data protection reasons'!!! Luckily we had booked through a brilliant travel agent who sent her husband up into the loft to find our original invoice and booking details which she had archived so we got the info and cashed our cheque this week. We've saved a lot thanks to MSE over the years but this is the biggest single sum - thank you!:j0 -
Despite having given TC all the evidence needed that the delay was not EC and contacting the Directors Office I am still getting the same reply EC.0

Thanks to MSE and the template letter we received 1200€ this week from Sri Lankan for a delay in 2009. Whilst they accepted early on that this money was due to use they did then put some hurdles in our way before paying - namely although they had taken 4 weeks to check their passenger list to confirm we were on the flight and asked for copies of our passports complete with the entry visas, they then said payment would only follow if we could provide the 13 digit ticket number. They regretted they couldn't give it to us as it would breach data protection!
Our travel agent was amazing - sent her husband into the loft where she'd archived old invoices and was able to send the info to us :j
Thanks MSE - we've saved lots with your advice and help in the past but this is the single biggest sum.:T0 -
Had a 7 hour delay on new years day in Tenerife with EasyJet. They gave us some vouchers & a leaflet explaining our rights (no mention of compensation for flight delays only cancellation). After looking at this forum the next day I sent them an email asking for compensation. Had a reply within 12 hours saying my claim was successful and we received 400 euros for each passenger paid to my debit card 9 days later. Excellent customer service EasyJet - well done0

Hey everyone,
Finally had a reply from Thomson:
Please accept our sincere apologies that we haven't got back to you yet. To enable us to fully investigate and respond to your request for compensation, please complete the attached from in full and return to us at the address below:
EU Delay Claims
Thomson Airways
Wigmore House
Wigmore Lane
Luton
LU2 9TN
Please note that a seperate form must be completed for each passenger aged 16 or over. Children are to be included on the form of a parent or guardian but must be included on one form only.
Upon receipt of your completed form, we'll review the facts and let you know whether your delay falls into one of the few categories for which we'll be paying compensation in line with regulations.
As this investigation provess may take some time, we'll aim to respond in full within 56 days upon receipt of your completed form, but from time to time it can take longer.
The information required on the form must be completed using your own records and documents, we are unable to assist with its completion and incomplete forms will be returned to you.
If you have already heard from us, please ignore this correspondence. We just wanted to let you know that we hadn't forgotten you"
They then attached a form which needs:
surname
given names
title
date of birth
age
passport number
full postal address
postal code
home telephone number
mobile phone number
lead name on booking
booking reference
A PHOTOCOPY OF YOUR PASSPORT PAGE
flight number
original flight departure date
departure airport
arrival airport
what time did you check in?
when did you hear of the delay?
what were you told about the reason for the delay?
ticketed: departure date, departure time, arrival date, arrival time
actual: " "
boarding pass.
I can fill in everything apart from the boarding pass (i dont have it) and booking reference number (I rang Thomson before I received this letter to obtain it and they wouldn't give me it because the booking was in my ex's name and I dont have any contact with him anymore)
Do you reckon it's still worth to send it in despite the fact they said incomplete forms will be sent back?
