Thomas Cook have now agreed to pay me my compensation via a cheque rather than a voucher. :T:j:beer:
    Well done!
Let us know when you receive your cheque.
    Oh!
Dont waste time in cashing it!
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

FRAME IT! You must be one of the only people they have decided to pay compensation to - as a result the cheque must have some rarity value and may well feature on the antiques roadshow in a few years time :rotfl:

Well you have done a lot better than anyone else on here.
Some of us, including me, are still waiting for the first 'fob off' from TC!
In my case after two letters and a NBA.
All sent recorded and all received.
I still havent been given a reason in writing for the initial delay.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

  • In the table "Who to complain to?" in Step 2 of the MSE process (What if my claim gets rejected), there isn't a row for the following combination:

    Departure Country, EU not UK
    Airline based in, UK

I am thinking of a delayed Jet2 return flight from Spain to UK.

Would the Step 2 complaint be to CAA or to the Spanish regulator?

Does anyone have any experience of the above.

I intitially sought comment from the CAA regarding a delayed Monarch flight from Spain to UK as I require the info for a court claim. They took an age to initially respond so a reminder was sent interim. They said I had to complain to the Spanish regulator .....

I was in the process of doing this when another person at CAA replied to say the CAA would comment on my delay! It seems they don't know themselves but start off with the CAA ~ at least your reply will be in English however even if they side with you they have no legal jurisdiction on the airline and at best their comment may only assist you in a court claim.

Hi, it's now been about 3 weeks since I've written to BA regarding compensation for some delayed flights earlier this year (using Martin's template letter which includes a line that says they need to respond within 14 days), and I haven't heard anything back.

Is this commonly happening to many people trying to claim?

What's the recommended course of action now?

    Many thanks.

Well if it wasn't for Christmas about 3 - 4 weeks after the first letter you send a reminder. So wait a bit IMO. Patience will clearly be the test for many people ;)
