Hi can anyone help with advice please!
we booked a package holioday with Thomas cook and the flight from Gatwick to Cancun was delay by 30 hours!
we are currently on resort only to be told today that the flight home, we were due to leave 4 hours ago, will also be subject to a 24 hour delay (minimum)
? do we have a claim for compensation here and can anyone advice, it seems we should be able to claim the maximum. Also as we have suffered 2 flight delays are we able to multiple claim, for the delays on the way here and on the way home.
thomas cook have been very poor and offered no help or even a rep at resort, so be aware if you are considering giving them your hard earned cash, they must have known about the delay home some time ago.
we have also incurred expenses as our poor dogs are now having to be passed from pillar to post until out return..... anyone who knows about this please help :)

Keep ALL the paperwork that Thomas Cook give you regarding why the flights were delayed. As long as the flights were not "extraordinary circumstances" you can claim for BOTH the outbound & inbound flights @ 600 euros per person each way (1200 euros each for both flights)
Then when you get back to the UK claim for BOTH flights using the sample letter (good luck with Thomas Cook as they don't like paying out and will send you a reply with the standard "extraordinary circumstances" deny claim letter), when you receive this just reply back with the NBA letter

You will also be able to claim on your holiday insurance for the delays - most insurance companies pay out for every 12 hours you were delayed.

As for compensation for your dogs, I am not sure if you can claim that from the airline (someone else may be able to confirm if you can or can't) but I am sure that is also covered on your holiday insurance.

Dog situation might be covered under your house insurance as well, worth a look anyway.

    Hello everyone,

Am after some help and advice.

We went to Florida on 18th Sep 2008. We flew from Cardiff to Sanford with Monarch - ZB313.

I cant remember the exact time but the original flight time was something like 6ish in the morning (maybe even earlier!). On arrival there we were informed of an 8 hour delay.

The flight stats site that you use to check delays etc is showing it was scheduled for 1.20 pm and no mention of the original flight time. It states a delay of 110 mins which i find very fishy as its under the 2 hour delay compensation range.

    What do i do now?

That seems like an unusually early departure for the USA. You're not confused with the check in time I assume?
Maybe a look at Cardiff's current flights for Monarch to Sanford might clarify the current departure times. Over the years these don't tend to change much.
You could try and log on to your Monarch account and see if your booking is still in the archives. Print it off if it is.
Other than that, you need to write to them and ask.

LDB, I have also hit Monarch's FB page with a scathing report of my circumstances ;)

    Thanks for reply.

I remember we had to be at the airport between 3 and 4 am for the 3 hour pre check in bit. So from that the flight would be 6-7ish. I cant remember exactly but do remember it was very very early cos when we arrived the women said do u realise there is an 8 hour delay. To which i replied do u think i'd be up this early if i did.

The airport is only 20 mins from our house but we decided to stay there as it was our first time flying and didnt know what to do.

The problem i got is flights from cardiff to florida are very rare and i believe they dont do them anymore.

I booked my hols through Charter Travel. I could give them a ring later and see what they say. Do they have to give u info or likely i'll be fobbed off?

I'm sure it was about 5pm which again is earlier than the normal flight times. That was on time from memory though.

    Y do u ask that?

It's certainly worth a call to Charter and see if the can provide you with a copy of the original booking Simon.
To achieve compensation is going to take a lot of leg work on your part, be under no illusions ;)

Did they stop to pick other passengers up from another airport on the way out to Sanford?

Did they give you any paperwork (that you should have kept) outlining your rights as a passenger? (Article 14 infringement?)
    Also, meal vouchers or anything?
