Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Am I able to claim compensation as the company EUjet went bust while we were in Spain 2005 and left us with no return flight, even though we had paid for 4 return flights? We had to buy four single flights back to the UK with another airline. We bought the original return tickets on a debit card, unfortunately, as if it had been a credit card we would have got our money back! Sadly, after a long wait once the business had gone into receivership we got about forty pounds back!! Does that mean we cannot claim again for compensation?
Many thanks
Yes
Airline bust= no claim0 -

Question- Can i make a claim for each delay? and if so should my compensation figure for which im asking for be for all 3 flights or just 1 claim.
The airline is the same 'Swiss Air' and this happened 3 times in 3 months to me as i was travelling frequently
Depends on the cause of the delay0 -

Hi
A family group of 9 we were delayed by around 7 hours at Manchester Airport in 2012 flying via Thomas Cook to the Canaries.
No info was given to us at the time, all we received was a £5 food voucher each.
I tried to claim compo at the time, TC said that they had met their obligations with the £5 voucher, they told me the delay was due to unforeseen safety issues so I then wrote to the CAA but they said there was nothing they could do.
I emailed TC again when the new ruling came out, they are currently looking into it.
I have the original booking reference info, however when I checked on Flightstats there is no trace of the flight, which I find very strange!
Any idea if Im likely to be successful or do safety issues count as extraordinary circumstances?
Thanks in advance!!0 -
Hi, We had a nine and a half hour delay in 2008 from Malaga to East Midlands with bmibaby who ceased trading in September. Is there anywhere to submit a claim or has this come a couple of months too late?0

There you will find the answer (and it's not good news:cool: )0 -

If it were me I'd ask TC to be specific as to the cause of delay.
Sounds like they are fobbing you off (no surprise there from TC)0 -
Thanks, I have been doing just that whilst waiting for a reply.0

Hi there
Thanks for the advice, would TC be honest with me or say something to cover themselves? I am very cynical!
Waiting to hear from their Directors Office they said they'd reply within 10 days which takes me up to tomorrow.
Thanks again Mills0 -
