Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Or they did you a favour. I don't see how this would entitle you to compensation under EU regulations. No flights were delayed or cancelled.
Correct that no flights were delayed or cancelled. However, I was delayed because of the airline booking system. Just because an aircraft wasn't delayed for cancelled, does that mean my inconvenience should be ignored? Again, I tried at every opportunity to check in but was unable to which led to a 7 hour delay in arriving at my destination.0 -

If that's how you feel then pursue your claim. I don't see how it falls under EU261 but who knows how a judge may see things. A lot of the cases posted in here fall in a grey area and nobody can tell you for sure whether they are compensatable or not.0 -
The point being made is that you don’t appear to have a claim under the regulations but there is nothing to prevent you from making a claim for general inconvenience if you wish.0

Hi
looking for some advice regards flight delays/cancellations.
my family and i flew out from machester airport to orlando via stop over in philadelphia in dec last year on the outbound flight we were initally delayed for an hour due to fog then another 2 hours due to some other none specified problem. this resulted in us missing our connection at philly and losing a day of our holiday which included cost of hotel room and car hire.
on return flight things got worse our original flight was cancelled then delayed then cancelled, we sat at airport all day waiting on next flight on standby which never happened so had to stay at hotel overnight then get flight the next morning.
few things im unsure of
we booked holiday through BA but when i have contacted them about the delays/cancellations they have said that i should take it up with AA as thats who ran the flights. I thought it would be who i booked the holiday through that would deal with this ? im guessing im wrong with the response from BA. but would like confirmation from anyone whos dealt with similar.
and other question is would the EU mandate cover flight from
mco-philly-man as there's a stop over.
thank you0 -

For EU261 any claim is against the operating carrier so if all flights were AA you need to take this up with them and as such there is no EU261 applicable for the return flight (non EU airline departing outside the EU)
If you google "Vauban's Guide" you should have all the information you need to work out whether there is any claim for the outbound flight (possibly not if weather involved)0 -
I flew to JFK from Gatwick last week and both the going and return flight were delayed for 4+ hrs, can I claim for both? Has this happened to anyone else and what have they done with regards compensation? Thanks0

Which airline?
I know of only 2 airlines flying from LGW to JFK, BA and Norwegian. Both are eligible for compensation under EU Regs 261/2004.
The compensation you can claim for is for both ways ie 600 EUR each way0 -
I assume it was direct flights. Firstly the outward flight would be claimable if the delay was not due to extra ordinary circumstances. the return flight would be the same as long as the airline you flew with is an eu airline. Put you flight details in to bottonline and EuClaim and see what they say or post your details here.0

Thanks, yes they were both direct flights with Norwegian Air.0
