Hi, Looking for some advice please

earlier this week I was part of of a group of 9

4 of us where delayed 11 hours
& 5 of us delayed 23 hours flying from Porto to Manchester (UK) with Lufthansa

we where lead to believe it was due to weather at/either both Porto and Germany, although flights where taking off from Porto and flights where landing & taking off in Germany therefore were do we stand on claiming

also looking at the resolver tool can we claim for extras on that such as Taxi's and excess car parking at Manchester airport

any advice would be appreciated thanks

It depends on the reason for the delay. Nobody in here can see what it is based on what you've said. If you post flight numbers and dates people may be able to give better advice. First thing to do would be to claim from Lufthansa and see what they say.

You cannot claim for expenses incurred after you arrived at your destination, only for expenses incurred during the delay.

We were in a similar situation to you, and probably in Porto for the same reason :)

Our flight, TP0338 to London, arrived just over three hours later than expected.

I fully intend to claim compensation, because like you said, although the airline stated bad weather, plenty of other flights were taking off.

that gives no guarantee of compensation
assuming your flight was on Thursday last week, putting the flight details through EUClaim shows -
An analysis of the data for this flight shows that an extraordinary circumstance was the cause of the delay.
Unfortunately you are not entitled to compensation.
An extraordinary circumstance is a situation which the airline has no control over and cannot be held responsible for, for example, a strike by air traffic control staff, bad weather or a terrorist attack.

and if bignred05's flight was the cancelled LH1179 also on Thursday it also shows the same message

Thanks for the update (it looks like our flight was LH1795) Porto > Munich > Manchester.

my query though is the rumour at the time was it was the Weather both in Porto and Germany.

However flights were taking off through out the day from Porto and whilst we where at the airport) checking Frankfurt and Munich airport flight departures for Thursday.15.feb.2018 appeared to suggest flights taking off from both of them as well throughout the day

if as suggested it was down to bad weather, why did other flights take off & land on the day in question by Lufthansa and other airlines

also what about out of pocket expenses such as taxi to and from airport and excess car parking upon return to Manchester airport

are flight was on Lufthansa from Porto > Munich > Manchester (LH1795)

it appeared a number of flights that day where cancelled from Porto outwards although some flights left

the 4 in our group got a replacement flight later the same evening from Porto > Lisbon > Manchester
That left Porto late Thursday evening before leaving Lisbon early Friday morning

Bad weather usually doesn't shut down airport operations completely but it can reduce the number of aircrafts allowed to depart/land.

there can be a number of reasons...different routings, different aircraft (with different tolerances), ATC agreement of flight plans etc
EU261 Duty of care covers during the delay, so if you were provided hotel you should be able to claim taxi from airport-hotel and back
Excess parking at Manchester you could check with your travel insurance but depending on the excess it may not be worth it

the MUC and FRA flights were both due to depart at the same time, both on the same aircraft type and both cancelled

I entered the flight details on the Bott and Co website and they have got back to me saying they will take it on on a no win no fee basis. I am trying to decide if I can be bothered to do it myself or not. That said, it is a couple of hundred Euros. How much effort is it to pursue the claim yourself?

I wonder if anyone could help please? We had a 24 hour flight delay from Ryanair on 22nd Dec 2017 @13.25 on Flight FR4755, it turns out that a plane had gone off the runway and we were then cancelled to the following morning @8.30 (at which time we had to sleep in the airport on a chair as we were told that there was no accommodation for us) to which other planes had been taking off for some time. We then received more text messages stating our flight was further delayed which ended up in us having a further 51/2 ours delay at least, the reason for this further delay was due to lack of crew. We have placed a claim but they have refused to pay out. In total we had over 24 hr delay, lost 1 day of our holiday, had not explanation from Ryanair and spent a fortune at the airport during the delay. Surley we should be entitled to some compensation?
