Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

The "contract" here ie your purchase of flights, has nothing to do with the reg 261/2004, which is to do with delay/cancellation/denied boarding and effectively compensation paid to the passenger for the inconvenience - this regulation states quite clearly that it is the operating airline that is liable for compensation, if it is due.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi, some advice please. We had flights cancelled and I am trying to work out if we are entitled to compensation (the airline says not)
UK-UK flight, less than 1500km. After check-in, staff advised that due to earlier technical problems, there would be some delay to departure. After being called to gate for 2nd time and now 1.5 hours later than scheduled departure, the airline cancelled the flight as the weather at that point had deteriorated at destination. next available flight (which we took) was 2 days later. So Airline says flight cancelled due to weather, but if it had departed on time there would have been no problem (other flights by same airline, same aircraft type, same route flew before and after our scheduled departure so definitely no issue if flight had been on time). So from a compensation viewpoint, is cancellation due to a knock on effect from earlier delays or as a result of weather even though there were no weather issues at scheduled time of departure? To complicate further, the airline says they have investigated and there was no technical fault, the knock on effect was from poor weather earlier in the day which is outside of their control. I think it is fairly certain there were weather issues earlier in the day as other flights (same airline) were delayed and flying out at the time our flight should have gone - even though they did say ours was an ealier tech fault. Welcome some guidance... thanks0 -
enter your flight details into EuClaim an bottonline and see what they say.0

bottonline does not recognise the flight, EuClaim recognises the flight but has no details on the delay / cancellation :-(0

EuClaim state you are possibly due €250 per passenger. Download and read Vaubans guide. Then send a letter before action to SKYBUS giving them 14 days to reply. (all explained in the guide) If they turn you down or don't reply you can start a small court claim, or hand it over to a No Win No Fee Solicitor.0

Please download Vauban's superb guide (google it). Your will find all your answers there.
But in short the answer is probably no. Non EU airline delayed form a non EU airport = no compensation under reg 261/2004If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Does anyone know if it is permissible to claim compensation for a flight delay from both the airline (under the EU scheme) and through my travel insurance, or does applying for one make me ineligible for the other?0
