AA could be responsible .... nothing to do with BA though .... and AA responsibility depends upon your route and flight details ..... Vauban's guide is your friend or at least post flight details.
ps - You may wish to advise your contact at CA that Vauban's Guide exists.

    Evening All
So ive been chasing a compensation claim with AA for over 10 months now, not got any response. Also took it to the CAA ( via the resolver website)
Anyway the CAA also have not replied ( gave them 7 months). so i contacted Citizens Advice who informed me that although my flight was with AA as i paid for the flight ( plus transfers and accommodation ) through BA is it them who is liable.
I sent BA a message, with a hasty reply of that they are not liable for this.
Can anyone help on who it is I need to be chasing......apart from my tail which seems to be the obvs answer !!!
    Mucho gracias

Citizens Advice have given you bad advice. It is always the operating carrier that is responsible for paying EU261 compensation, so AA. That of course is presuming the circumstances mean compensation is payable.

    Jules06.
Tell us the circumstances. If you were flying from USA to Europe you have no claim. If you were flying from the Eu to USA depending on the reason for your claim you might be due compensation

FYI: the guys I'm using are called ... They seem pretty nice, me and my partner found them on reviews.co.uk ... Happy so far, Advice from others is welcome though or if you'd like to share your stories also, or perhaps a referral to this company I'm using?

    Let me know guys

I think this is possibly the most rubbish attempt at disguised spam I've seen this year! That said, it's only mid-January.

EDIT And for a proper laugh have a look at what they charge if they need to start legal proceedings against the airline: 50% plus £25 per passenger. Steer well clear!

    Morning
We were flying LHR to JFK. Took off on time., After an hour and a half of circling the Irish sea we turned back to LHR where maintenance works were carried out for a fault with the cabin pressure. We were left on the airplane while work was completed. Ended up landing 4 hours and 20 mins late.

As stated AA are responsible for any claim.
  • My flight to Chicago from LHR on United in December was cancelled. I've been offered €600 as compensation without any question, however it is going to be sent as a pre-paid visa cash card using Citibank and will take 6-8 weeks to arrive.
I wondered if this is classed as a 'Other service' under section 3, article 7 of the ruling, which would require my written consent.

    3. The compensation referred to in paragraph 1 shall be paid in cash, by electronic bank transfer, bank orders or bank cheques or, with the signed agreement of the passenger, in travel vouchers and/or other services.

I read the above as pay up using bank transfer, bank orders, or cheque. Anything else requires my agreement.
    Is it worth fighting?
Has anyone else got a direct bank transfer/cheque out of United?
  • I see today airlines are rushing to cancel flights ahead of a snow warning. In the event that airports stay open I wonder what would be the position of disappointed passengers?

jules06. As long as the delay wasn't caused by an extraordinary circumstance which this appears not to be, you will be due compensation of €600 per passenger after arriving at your destination more than 4 hours late. Download and read Vaubans Guide all explained there.
