AXA pulling out of pet insurance

I have been with Axa for my dog for the past eight years. Premium for 2012/2013 was around £350. When I moved from Wales to Peterborough in October 2013 they increase the premium to £650. They said this was due to postcode. I paid! They have now increased the premium for 2014 / 2015 to £2383 no - you haven't misread this £2383. Is there anything that can be done. My pet has pre existing conditions and is 8 years old.0

Oh no, that's terrible
Have you asked them to review it? If not, start with that
if you have, only really 3 options
1 complain to the insurance ombudsman - companies are allowed to make increases which effect everyone (eg if they put everyone's premiums up 100% they could say it was needed & justified) but they're not allowed to increase individual premiums so that its likely they're singling certain people out to make their Insurance too expensive so they won't renew
2 take out a policy elsewhere but obviously this will depend on what the per existing conditions are & whether they are ongoing
3 take out an accident & injury pOlicy and put money aside to pay for other thingsGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

So who are people moving to? I've had a read back but other than finding companies taking old dogs this doesn't seem to have been much discussed!
Axa have been great for our 3 cats and even covered dental work that the vet though might be rejected under 'wear and tear'.
I don't really care about cost, I want to know that we have good coverage for all conditions - having made a couple of chunky claims in the past it's such a relief to know we're covered!
Anyone able to make any recommendations (or warnings of who to avoid)?
eta. Just gone to Which? (should really have started there) and this table looks very helpful! I think it's between John Lewis and More Than based on this... http://www.which.co.uk/money/insurance/reviews-ns/pet-insurance/cat-insurance-reviews/When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present....we experience heaven on earth. Finally talked to someone and TADA £228 a month LOL
£2740 for the year LOL
Obviously their aim is to get rid of us and they have
I asked if they have increased all their insurances in such a degree and was told no just us with ongoing conditions0 -
Bloody hell, that's some increase, if your on Facebook there's a page that started when Lloyd's, Halifax and whoever else it was stopped pet insurance, it's now about Axa and there is at least one person waiting to hear from the ombudsman but it is taking a while. There's also a guy posted on there a few days ago about what happened when he went to the ombudsman about whoever he was with a couple of years ago.0

Yup it's the same one.0 -
I've received my renewal quotes for my cats and they haven't gone up by very much. I'm swithering about changing to pet plan though because I've never heard of NCI insurance and don't know how reliable they are. I got direct debit forms through the post from Close Brothers Premium Finance. It says if you miss a payment you get charged £30. Is this normal? I've never paid insurance premiums through a finance company before so I'm a bit confused.0
