I've had my renewal from them, last year I paid approx £750 this year they wanted almost £1900 for the same cover, Arran had three lumps removed which my vet claimed from them direct, they took it as three claims and not just the one. They did offer me alternatives and the one I took is costing me about the same as last year but for only £4000 worth of cover with existing conditions covered. I was offered £1200 worth of cover for about £460 and no existing conditions covered. I'm dreading my other dogs renewal in July !!! she had a mast cell tumour removed just before Christmas.

Sorry to hear of your dogs' health worries Kinski hope all on the mend now

As for the jump in premiums - more & more pet insurers seem to be doing this AND being allowed to do it as the Ombudsman doesn't seem to be interested in stopping it.

Surely this is why we have insurance - we pay a premium and, if something happens, we pay an excess and the insurance covers the rest - if they then increase the premiums, they are in effect clawing back the money they've forked out ..... that's not sustainable long term as people will get wise to it as, basically, what's the point in having the insurance? You might as well have a savings plan or credit card (or similar) and cover the costs yourself ....

Believe it or not, the insurer I moved to when Axa pulled out (NCI premiums were unaffordable for me) has also pulled out - I am being transferred to Argos which I guess is OK & for Archie will have to do (he's nearly 11 & the costs of moving elsewhere are just ridiculous - very few will cover him to start with!) but may have to move Mia before her birthday

    Hello! :)

Just a quick update, and a question!

I got my policy and it has gone up from £291.45 to £360.16, for a 7 year old crossbreed, and it is now being underwritten by Aviva too.

Has anyone noticed any major / concerning changes in the T&Cs, with the change to Aviva? Thanks! :T

Yeah my policy has gone up too (£3 per cat) but mine are 8 this year and tbh I expected a jump based on age let alone the change in underwriter. Would be interested to hear peoples views. I've had a look at the T&C and can't see anything majorly different. One of my cats has pre-existing conditions so can't move elsewhere :(

Insurance Tax increased from 6% to 9.5% on I November 2015.

So an extra £3.50 per hundred pounds of premium after any annual increase has been applied.
