Just starting to look for a policy to replace AXA, Tesco offering £7500 per condition which seems fairly good. Anyone know who still does lifetime policies?Jan Grocery challenge

have a look at this site

I have just renewed with NCI.
I was pleasantly surprised that thier quote was cheaper than Petplan and she will be covered for any further cruciate problems which would be an excluded condition with Petplan or any other insurer.0

Yes... really interesting... although heard several horror stories in the first few months after NCI took over, most of the recent renewal premiums appear to have been much more reasonable. Worth though bearing in mind that Petplan do not put up premiums if you claim.. but most other insurance companies do.0

As my dog had no previous conditions, have taken out a new policy with NCI for £12,000 lifetime cover for £15 per month less than the quote they were offering for £7000 cover!.Jan Grocery challenge

As of 1st September 2015, there will be a change to your pet insurance policy; please be advised that Elite Insurance have opted to no longer underwrite pet insurance products.
We wish to assure you that NCI are dedicated to providing our valued customers with ongoing pet insurance and we have since sought a further insurance underwriter to provide you with pet insurance. At NCI, we will continue to deal with all aspects of your policy from purchase or renewal to claims handling, meaning that you can continue to benefit from our high level of customer service. No cover is being removed and there are no changes to the way in which we process your claims. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions. If you have any further queries, please contact us on 01423 535057 or via email at petteam@ncionline.co.uk.
Q: Why is Elite Insurance no longer underwriting my pet insurance?
A: Following a strategic review of their business, Elite have decided to no longer underwrite pet insurance. This does not affect your cover because we will continue to provide pet insurance underwritten by either Aviva Insurance Limited or QIC Europe Ltd.
Q: What will happen if I currently have an insurance policy underwritten by Elite?
A: Elite will continue to provide cover for existing customers until their renewal date.
Q: What will happen when my policy is due for renewal?
A: NCI are pleased to announce that we have negotiated an agreement with Aviva Insurance Limited and QIC Europe Ltd to provide our existing customers with continued pet insurance cover. When you renew your policy after 1st September 2015 it will now be underwritten by either Aviva Insurance Limited or QIC Europe Ltd instead of Elite.0

While I would be hugely happier to be underwritten by Aviva compared to NCI - I can't say it really personally inspires any confidence in the long term viability of the pet insurance market - or any feeling of confidence / stability
Having underwriters change constantly isn't really a good option - especially if you do end up having ongoing conditions and are stuck ....Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Just wondered how everyone who stuck with NCI is getting on?
Don't know if I've just been lucky or if they're actually better than we thought..
My premium did jump a bit, from around £40 a month with AXA to £63 with NCI, but considered I'd claimed for some expensive things in my last year with AXA (used my complementary therapy £250 limit in full, £700-800 on x-rays, probably around £500 or so in blood tests over the year, and about £20 a month or so on thyroid meds), it didn't seem too horrendous.
I've sinced claimed several thousand pounds this year - a few hundred on the thyroid condition (which she'll have for life), plus her cruciate ligament tore this year so £800ish on x-rays for that, surgery was about £2500, and all the follow up consults, medication, etc. I was dreading her renewal and the likely resulting debate on whether to stay, where to move to, having to fork out for thyroid meds and then the worry that her other cruciate would go and it would be deemed pre-existing bilaterely, etc. So I was very pleasantly surprised when I phoned yesterday to check the renewal, and it's only gone up to £70 a month! I was very impressed at only a £7/month increase, especially given her age (turned 9 at Christmas) and considering my GSD's policy went up with another company by £5 a month despite absolutely no claims (in his life).
I've also been happy with the service with all my claims this year. The longest they took to pay out was about a month, for the big op claim, but they did keep texting to say they were awaiting further details from my vet. Most recent claim was dealt with and paid by BACS (so no waiting for a cheque in the post or the faff of banking it) 2 weeks from the date they received it - I was impressed!0

I also cannot complain with the service I have received from NCI at the moment.
When we were moved from NCI the premium went from £35 per month to £161 per month, we continued to pay this due to the illnesses our dog has. During the first year we made no claims and the premium was reduced at renewal (when Aviva started underwriting) to £50 per month.
We have claimed this year so not sure what the renewal will be but your post fills me with some confidence. They have never quibbled on any of our claims and are quite efficient. We got same day pre authorisation within hours for a scan.0

I've had my renewal from them, last year I paid approx £750 this year they wanted almost £1900 for the same cover, Arran had three lumps removed which my vet claimed from them direct, they took it as three claims and not just the one. They did offer me alternatives and the one I took is costing me about the same as last year but for only £4000 worth of cover with existing conditions covered. I was offered £1200 worth of cover for about £460 and no existing conditions covered. I'm dreading my other dogs renewal in July !!! she had a mast cell tumour removed just before Christmas.0
