Well would you know it! I haven't posted to this thread for months and on the day I finally put note on here of my latest cashback delay, a cheque arrived in the mail after I submitted my posting!
Cashback 3/5 submitted 17 May, acknowledged by email 19 June promising payment within 7-10 days. No further contact from The Mobile Outlet but a cheque arrived today even though the previous payment was made by BACS.
The cheque was written on 17 July - exactly 2 months since they received the cashback claim. Seems an incredible co-incidence. It looks to me as though this is the timetable they are working to if you don't chase them up - and I haven't chased them.
The next steps should be interesting, since I suppose I need to cancel my contract with Orange in the next week or so at the same time as submitting bills 10 & 11 (11 has just arrived). Ho hum!!0 -
I just received my second installment of £180 via BACS today. That was £360 total for the year.
I e-mailed them four weeks after the end of my contract & again two weeks later.
I then waited one more week before phoning them. The chap on the phone was apologetic, confirmed my claim was valid & I then received an email two days ago confirming the BACS payment was imminent.
Ok, it was a late payment, but in my case, after reading this forum regularly over the past year I wasn't expecting much.
Gotta be honest, for the small amount of faffing about & making sure I had my eyes kept well open, I cannot really complain.
After all, 12 - no 14 months ago, I had a brand new K750i, a bluetooth headset & 200+ cross network minutes + 100 free texts & all it has cost me was a bit of time & effort & approx £12 in Royal mail special delivery etc.
But, I do realise that I am one of the lucky ones.0 -
Has anyone successfully taken TMO to small claims? They really are ripping me off I know I have abided by T&C's
Yes, have a read of the thread.richardse6 wrote: »The next steps should be interesting, since I suppose I need to cancel my contract with Orange in the next week or so at the same time as submitting bills 10 & 11 (11 has just arrived). Ho hum!!
Simply write Orange giving a cancellation date that is after you have been connected for a year. This can be done at anytime during the contract.
Make it clear that you are not giving 30 days notice, but are setting a specific date.
For example,
1. Contract taken out on the 1st Jan 2007.
2. Write Network on the 1st Feb 2007 stating that you are giving notice that you are ending the contract after you have been connected for a year, let them give you this date in writing.
3. Contract runs as normal for the correct time, and cancels or you could ask to convert to PAYG. :cool:Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
Hi Jamie,
I was is the same position as you too. However, they do not have the right to forfeit the cashback under whatever circumstances in my T&C (I have the old T&C). I am fully prepare to go to court and would not let this bast**d company get away with any of my hard earn cash. I contacted Mobile Outlet on various occasions regarding the issue and I have been ignored. Email to Forum Enquiry, Letter to Meladith Walker, various telephone calls, Letter before Action have been found useless.
I filed a claim under Moneyclaim Online and they return with a defence. However, I still proceed with the court proceeding. One month before the hearing date I received a phone call from Mobile Outlet offering 50% of the cashback and point out that I have not follow their T&C. 50% is the best they can offer. Well, I am fully prepare to go to court and claim 100% of the cashback plus court fee plus fee for all the hassle I went thro'. Therefore, I replied "NO THANK YOU. I know I am entitle to the whole cashback plus court fee". The conversation ended without any result. 2 minutes later Mobile Outlet rang back offering the full amount plus court fee. Wait 3 days and the money gone into bank account by BACS. End of story.
Good luck Attif Ashif as the director of this "briliant" company and I guess this will be the next Just3G very soon. He will pocket all the money and all the customers will be left without any further cashback.
 I would like to say thank you for all the people who contribute to my successful cashback. Thanks adorabubble, thesaint etc!!!!!!! Thank you~:money:0 -
Real shame this. I was going to go with this company, when I saw TMO in the title I thught it was T-Mobile but now I know better. They have a really good deal that I want, but I suppose losing 100 minutes a month off my contract but going with a company with a better track record would be worth it if only for the reduced stress.
H.Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0 -
Firstly thanks to the The Saint for advice on terminating my Orange contract, which sounds good advice. I phoned Orange yesterday about terminating the contract which ends it's 12 months on 29 August, and they told me they could only process the request during the last month so I needed to phone again after 30 July. "But surely I then haven't given you a full months notice?" "Oh that doesn't matter" was the reply... Yes well I think I'll go with The Saint on this one.
At the risk of getting off topic, I think I've been too caught up with having a free mobile, (which has been great), without weighing up the risks involved with dealing with a company like TMO.
My usage turns out to average less than 100 mins a month, although I took out the Panther contract at £45 a month not knowing it would be this low.
With the late payments which are always involved with TMO, this means I have always been at least £180 out of pocket waiting for cashbacks, and on 1 August will have paid out £516 in rental with £216 still owing in cashbacks - claim 4/5 goes in next week with probably another 2 month wait for payment.
Of course it all depends on how high your usage is going to be, but I'm pretty sure that for next year I've learned my lesson. If I can spend say £15 a month on PAYG then it's going to be much better than putting so much money at risk with such an unreliable company. Just my thoughts - but I think I've been too hooked on a free mobile without weighing up the outlay, stress and risks involved with TMO.

I'm still waiting for my 2nd & final cashback from TMO. Months 11 & 12 bills were sent in April & May respectively and have email from TMO confirming they have received the claims. I received an email from TMO on 3rd July informing me my cashback will be paid within 3-5 working days by BACS into my bank account, however as of today still not received it.
I rang customer services this afternoon & they informed me they will put trace on my BACS payment and i should receive it within 5 days. hopefully i will receive my cash back by the end of this week or early next week at the very latest.
Will keep you all informed to how i get on.
P.S. I have also sent emails today informing TMO i have yet to receive my cashback by BACS into my bank account.0 -
I am an ex TMO customer, never again!
they never answered my emails or letters or phone calls,
their T and C s are so complicated that they seem to want you to fail at all costs to meet them! Stay well clear of mobile outlet IMHO if you want cashback look elsewhere0 -
