  • I would be VERY peed off if my DH posted this on a forum instead of talking to ME about My menopause as it is well know everyone's menopause is unique to them.

Apologies for trying to educate myself on an anonymous forum when I'm feeling pretty useless when I've tried plan A.
as it is well know everyone's menopause is unique to them.
Well known? If you say so.

A unique combination of symptoms, perhaps. I'd hazard a guess that some of the symptoms you've encountered have been felt by others though.

Sorry - it's not well known to me! (52 year old menopausal woman)! I'd be dead chuffed if my OH cared enough to seek out advice. He's more of an "ignore it, it will go away" kind of guy!
  • Everyone's menopause is unique as everyone suffers a slightly different selection of symptoms at different intensities for differing amounts of time that affect everyone differently - Yes? therefore everyone's menopause is unique to them! More common emotion I believe is anxiety, but some suffer anger and aggression etc. etc.
  • Hi everyone :)

PW I think the problem is that your OH doesn't know from one minute to the next what's she's going to experience. As one who has had all the men in her life treading carefully for a week every month for years and now just when my body decides to make me hot, cold, grumpy, tearful, forgetfull, feeling like someone is scraping their nails down a blackboard, achy, headachy etc. All you can do is bite your lip, give her a cuddle, etc and if you think things are really bad point her in the direction of her GP ( you might need to choose that moment carefully )
My GPs advice was to eat well, treat yourself nicely and ask if you think you need help. I think this is good advice for both of you.

    Cuddles :)

  • My poor DH didn't have a clue what was going on when I started the menopause, but then neither did I as I was only 34/35 so menopause never crossed our minds.

Anyway, I'm 15 years on & on advice from the practice nurse, I'm now reducing my HRT by a tablet a month, so now missing 3 this month. I'm not feeling any effects of dropping slowly but if I feel things are beginning to go amiss, I will keep a diary.

I must have missed this thread originally, so apologies for quoting a couple of old posts.
Oh for vaginal dryness I take Macca (powder not capsules) 1 teaspoon a day. I get it at a local herbal shop or online from Baldwins. It's an adaptogen. I add it to my breakfast porridge.
Personally I find the raw material/natural way works better as it's assisting/easing rather stopping nature. So far so good.
Periods currently very very light & alternate months, so gradually coming to an end methinks rather than the jagged/bumpy ride I felt I was on!
Regarding general skin dryness & hair (on head). Body has has always been dry but is now extra sensitive (as well) so using very gentle shower gels & slapping on coconut oil & unscented creams (I love Superdrugs Vitamin E cream & it's cheap!). I think as we age the dryness is perhaps natures way of telling us that our skins getting thinner & needs more care?!!
On head, well I developed a bald patch above my left ear & it doesn't look like its coming back any time soon! Has anyone tried that 39 caffeine shampoo or products?

Googling recently, I came across mention of pure coconut oil:

I found this website about coconut oil:
    http://wellnessmama.com/5734/101-uses-for-coconut-oil/

and I've read lots of stuff about women using it for lubrication.

It needs to be 100% coconut oil and apparently organic cold-pressed is best.

It seems incredible that something that can soften & condition leather can help 'down below' (or then again maybe not ;)).

    Can I revive this thread?

I'm just back from the doctors with a 3 month supply of Premarin

Never seen this GP before and we are only allowed a 10 min appointment so I tell him the night sweats are killing me , the hot flushes I am coping with- and that was it. No in depth consult and I'm just not sure about taking these

I guess I've been having symptoms for the past three years ( 51 now). I have the mirena fitted so loss of periods was never indicated I'm just a nightmare to be around. I'm tearful, tired and just live in a total brain fog. Even driving is becoming a challenge

My skin is so dry it's beginning to split and I'm waking to broken veins on my face. Oh and I can't leave the house without a pair of tweezers as the hair on my chin seems to grow at a mile a minute lol

I guess I'm really down ATM through lack of sleep

Anyone else take Premarin? Has it helped? I'm not even sure how long I should be taking it for. He said 3 months should see an improvement but then if I stop them do all the symptoms return?

Or should I look at something else herbal to take?

Obviously I'm not looking medical advice, just other women's experiences of Premarin

I took HRT from the age of 47 and it did make a difference to my symptoms at the dose you are on. My GP was happy to keep giving it and I was the one who said when I thought I wanted to stop.

As you only have oestrogen then you need progesterone which you get from the Miranda.

    I also found sage helped

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

How long do the hot flushes go on for? My periods stopped 3 years ago when I had radiotherapy. The only menopausal symptoms I have are the hot flushes and I'm getting bored of them now!
