Those who are waiting to TTC (New Thread)

I've applied for another job, if successful it will be more work but more practical hours (in theory) which should make the idea of TTC more realistic and practical from a child care POV. It's a bit of a long shot though, so time will tell.
Good luck with the job application! Childcare can be a nightmare when you work, which is why I now work from home. I certainly wouldn't be planning baby no 4 if I still worked out of the home0 -
hi
saw this thread and realised i wasnt the only one waiting! Thank god, was starting to think i was crazy!
My TTC sats:
My age/Partners age:23/22
Time together:2 1/2 years
What are you waiting for:just bought our first house, getting the house finished, i want to squirrel some extra money away!
When will you be TTC?end of 2015
Any preTTC prep?planning on eating healthier, going to see doc about coming off anti depressents closer to TTC
I am taking my mind off TTC by i cant! Im obsessed! Its taking over!!!
Looking forward to preplanning with you ladies. Keep me sane please :rotfl: x0 -
My TTC stats:
My age/Partners age:29/30
Time together: 11 years
What are you waiting for: moving into our house (mid buying process), also want to travel more and for us both to establish our careers. Save a decent amount.
When will you be TTC? my new 'deadline' age is 32!!
Any preTTC prep? getting my abnormal periods checked out, not pregnant and realised not had a period in yonks! Actually bit worried there's something wrong with me although my routine smear came back normal....but in more general terms.... weight loss, healthier diet /lifestle
I am taking my mind off TTC by telling myself I have time left!
Coming at this a different way...I know I want children in my future, husband feels same but don't really get broody and I'm worried I won't ever get that feeling. As a teen, i thought I would have first baby by 25, when I was around that age I thought definitely by 28, well now that age has been pushed to 32!!!
I think of my problems is I have not got close friends who have become parents so the idea seems nuts to me. I worry I'll wait for this feeling that will never come and then it'll be too late.
I guess my question is can anyone relate? Did you wake up one day and suddenly you felt the urge? Thanks for reading ladies0 -
My TTC stats
My age/hubby's age: 26/33
Time together: 8 years
What are you waiting for? For my post grad degree to finish in August, and to build up some savings to cover maternity leave. Not convinced my work would be happy with me skipping off on mat leave halfway through a funded degree! Have also just taken on a promotion so want to give myself 6-9 months to feel comfortable in that role before trying.
When will you be trying to conceive? Hopefully October/November 2015
Any pre TTC prep? The usual folic acid nearer the time, and attempting to break my diet coke addiction!
I am taking my mind off TTC by: talking to several friends who are all in the same boat (4 of us will be TTC at the same time) and remembering why it's important to wait so I can have longer off work with baby. Otherwise I'll be running back to work after 3 months if we do it now. It's hard though to be distracted - especially when both sets of parents are wanting grandchildrenBaby due 21/06/20170 -
Hi ladies,
Other half is getting carried away with telling people we will be having a baby next year. He thinks hes making sense but to others "we are gunna have a baby next year" sounds like we are actively trying and i expect to be pregnant and give birth by the end of next year, but the reality is we wont even be trying til late 2015 and i dont want people thinking we are having problems TTC when im not pregnant before the end of next year!!
Dont get me wrong im pleased hes so excited and proud and wants to tell people, but ssshhhh!! Im a bit private and dont want the world to know my business when there isnt anything to know lol!
So ive told him to keep quiet coz people will be getting excited over something thats potentially two years away, instead ive suggested we focus on putting a set amount away each month from our pay to build up a little savings so when we do start TTC and fall preg we can buy all the nessacary bits and pieces without financial strain
Any other girls partners the same?
Have a good dayx

Hi KatieBee - yes exactly the same! To the point where I had my mother in law grinning and winking at me and saying ooh I can't wait to have a grandchild next year.....I then had my mum apoplectic - why have you told her before me?! - as she sent mum a message saying how exciting it was that they would be grandparents soon.....
Consequently I've channelled him into debt repayment and saving and told him the sooner it is paid the sooner they will be grandparents
It's quite sweet that he's so excited but exasperating at the same timeBaby due 21/06/20170 -
Pidge_jen its hard work! Sounds like we have children already?. Our men!:rotfl:
If you dont mind me asking how much do you aim to save to use to buy your baby essentials? I was going to have a look at all the nessacarys add them up then work out monthly savings based on the total costs of everything id want... But if i do that ill whinde myself up and get excited and wanting to TTC sooner!! X0 -
Sorry to gatecrash - I've just graduated from the TTC thread (yippee!) and pretty much lurk anything that has TTC in the title!
There's a tool on the money advice service website to help calculate the cost of having a baby. I'm finding it both useful and daunting! Have a great xmas and NY folks

Hey KatieBee,
To be honest I have very little idea of how much to save, though I have been pushchair shopping (window shopping) and picked one I want :rotfl:
Aiming for 3-4k to cover shortfall in earnings and another 1.5-2k for furniture, clothes, etc. though I doubt we will build up that much before mr broody objects :rotfl:Baby due 21/06/20170 -
Hey guys, I've not been around for a while but I need some help. Sorry this will be a bit long!
Those of you with children already or who have a clear plan - how do you know when you are ready?!
To refresh - I'm 26, OH 29 (30 in Feb), been together 6 years married 2 and owned our house nearly 3. Both good, stable jobs.
OH has always been much more ready for children than me, just because his parents were so young (19 and 21) when he was born so he wants to be young. Mine were 29 and 32 so that was sort of my benchmark. We had generally agreed end of 2015 would prob be our TTC point, but a couple of things have happened recently that have confused me. Firstly, 2 close friends of ours (ie a couple) have had a baby. He is gorgeous and seeing them has made me see a bit what our life might be like with one, and so made us a little more broody. Secondly, a close friend of mine had a miscarriage. I know these happen, but hers was nasty and she can't TTC again for 6 months minimum. This has made us realise things don't always go smoothly and the time that we decide is right may not work out like that.
So now I'm stuck and terrified - do we just go for it?! After all what's 9-12m in the scheme of life?! But then I'm petrified that we've not done things like a couple more holidays, a couple more nights out etc etc.
Financially and physically we are very much ready, and I know my OH is, but I'm just so scared by it all - maybe that never goes though!?
Thanks for readingOfficially Mrs B as of March 2013
TTC since Apr 2015, baby B born March 20170
