Welcome musogirl! I hope you manage to get your gall bladder sorted soon - it might be worth mentioning to your GP that you're wanting to TTC, and they might push for you to get the op earlier? Depends if you have a nice GP or not.
And yeah lulu, I'm a maths graduate with OCD... it was always going to have to be perfectly timed LOL. Now I just have to keep reminding myself that it probably won't happen straight away!Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0 -
I might just get you to do all my TTC maths then, tilly!
I'm going to kill my step-dad. He's put a stupid idea in OH's head which involves renting this house out and buying another one using my income for the mortgage and running the house. We worked out the figures and we would be in a defecit - I wish he would stop changing his mind as to what he wants to do.
Every time he comes up with an idea I have to remind him about the TTC and he just fobs me off with "oh it'll be fine" even though he knows I want to get it out of the way as the women in my family have a problem with early menopause so don't want to risk it!Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Tell him you'll need at least a 40% deposit/equity to get a good BTL mortgage interest rate if you remortgage your current house to let it out, plus a deposit for your new own house/mortgage. That might scare him off the idea.0

Ask him how he'll manage looking after the rental property while you're looking after any potential offspring (or the other way around! Gender equality and all) - and how he'll be fine to look after it if you're bedridden whilst with child (happens!) and can't lift anything/do any repairs/housework. And how that'll work financially when you're on maternity pay...
Specific questions make them shut up ;-)
I guess I hadn't realised how lucky I am that The Boss is as baby mad as I am, he can't wait either (although he's a lot older, it was one of our reasons for getting married this year, even though money has been a bit of a stretch to do it - he doesn't want to be the 'old dad' at school LOL)
We've got a house viewing today (plan is to move before the wedding into somewhere that could work for a family - so we don't have to move for a while) - it's weird to think of us being a family!Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0 -

Excellent ideas, girlsFortunately I think he realises it's a bit of a pipe dream right now.
I know right we were having this discussion in the middle of the supermarket yesterday! I don't like being the one to always bring up babies so I say "well how will this affect our future plans?" Which helps although I get the standard "it'll be fine don't worry we can do it all" lark.
He's baby mad, don't get me wrong. He's the one that makes me watch One Born, and after the things he's been through (bit too personal for on here) he is more than excited to do it, he just doesn't show it that often..
ooh good luck I hope it's lovely! That's a good idea too, when's the big day?Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Ha, I'm totally always the one who brings up babies... in conversation at least. TB gets soppy sometimes, especially if I'm having a fat day... SO CONFIDENCE INSPIRING MY OTHER HALF IS
It's September 13th - looming closer with every day (I'm dreading it, can't wait to be married, wish I could skip the actual wedding...)
The house wasn't up to scratch incidentally, but we have a month or so to find somewhere - and we want it to be right :-) so we'll keep looking.Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0 -
Haha aww bless, my OH likes to kiss my tummy at the moment because of the pain, we joke that he is getting ready!
ooooooh. it's only one day and that will fly past and you will be married!
Ah that's rubbish, you should be able to find something, there's always houses for sale! We've found a gorgeous house that is ridiculously cheap for the size and it's been recently renovated but we can't buy it yet!Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Hi everybody,
I used to be on this thread a couple of years ago before we decided it was time to TTC. We tried unsuccessfully for about 18 months and then we got engaged this past Christmas. We planned our wedding for this October and decided to stop trying again for a while as I didn't want to be a heavily pregnant bride. The plan was to start trying again this month so that if we were lucky enough to fall pregnant, I would only be showing a little if at all.
I was happy enough with that plan, but the problem is that I have just been given a promotion at work. It's a decent step up, it will involve quite a lot of national travel at least initially and is a really good opportunity for me to make a mark in the company and prove myself.
Now I feel like I need to give this job a good go for at least a few months. At least to get to grips with it but also out of respect for my new manager and the company that has really supported me in my career progression.
That's my heads opinion anyway. My heart is saying that there will always be another reason to put it off and to put it off and that given that we tried and failed for 18 months we should start trying again ASAP.
I should also mention that my fiance is quite a bit older than me at 47 and that we are both keen to start a family sooner rather than later on those grounds too.
Thanks for listening to my rant and I'm looking forward to chatting with you all!

Hi Jovie!
Maybe have a few months being able to concentrate on your new role at work then start trying again just before/around your wedding(congrats!)?0 -
Hello ladies :-)
Things have moved on a little since my last post.
I've come off the bipolar meds, I simply decided that the the sooner I start to prepare my body, the better. Not what my pdoc suggested, but it's my body and I know that I have to give myself and any baby, the best start. I want to be able to manage my moods naturally and not need medication at all. All is going well so far, have also started taking pre-conception vitamins and will be presenting my OH with a box too! I've also started eating much healthier, swapping diet coke for water and am trying to reduce the stress at work - not an easy feat at all!!
My house is also up for sale! We're hoping it will sell quick, so we can be living together before Christmas, it'll make baby making a whole lot easier too
We're going away for a few days this week, so hoping for plenty of relaxation and fresh air - and practicing of course!
Happy Monday to you all xxRemember how far you've come, not just how far you have to go.
You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be. {Rick Warren}0
