Hi KK - I'm doing very well thank you! I had a terrible first few weeks, mainly because the meds helped make me sleep more normally, even though I could still sleep 12 hours and not feel rested. I've not noticed any drastic alteration in my moods, which are mainly depressive, coupled with hypomanic, so fingers crossed they stay "normal"!! I'm hoping to be able to manage myself more naturally, rather than popping pills. Don't get me wrong, they've been a huge improvement for me, but I simply cannot take them whilst trying for a baby - there is no alternative, but to stop them.
The plan is to spend the next 3 months getting ready for the biggest change of my life - If only I hadn't left it until 37 to start - but in all honesty, I truly only now feel ready. I've always put work first, building my career, so I can see why you want to delay things a few months, I think you're very sensible...
Hope all is well for everyone else xxRemember how far you've come, not just how far you have to go.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, and thanks for the belated birthday wishes!
Finally had the chat with OH last night. Provisional plan is to take the rest of my pills which if I take the 3 packets back to back I will come off on the 25th September, if I take them properly it will be 8th October. I'm leaning towards using it properly with my theory being it might give my body some form of normality but I'm not sure if this will affect anything?
For this plan to work we have promised to use these 2-3 months to lose as much weight as possible so it's easier for us to conceive and so I will actually have a bump that isn't flab!
Went out on Saturday and ended up being sick, which I insist was heat and food related, so combined with my other ailments and illnesses (and the arrival of AF) I'm not a happy bunny! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

For the sake of 2 weeks I would take them normally if it were me, I think the lining in the womb still builds up if you take them back to back so taking more than 2 packs could apparently have side effects of breakthrough bleeding, cramps or stomach pains.0

Thanks for the advice. Right now I take 1 break per box (every 3 packs, missing two breaks). I'm hoping that this might make life easier for me in terms of pain relief! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Lulu it won't make any difference if you take them back to back or not. I'd continue as you are with only 1 AF per box and crack on in September. It's only a withdrawal bleed rather than a period so not really instigating any kind of normality until you stop it for TTC.0 -

Good point thanks for that
TTCing after this box isn't definite yet because I know for a fact OH will change his mind again. I'm giving him the option now to pick a new time to do it because he keeps messing me about by saying we can start then a couple of days later changes his mind. If he does this in September I'll be super mad and he knows it.Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

I'm not sure that the men ever think it is a good time/are ready for it. With my DH I just talk about it as a thing that is already happening no matter what rather than IF we start in September. This works with him on lots of issues as it gives him a chance to get used to the idea far in advance. It's how I've convinced him we should get a new car!
He's actually got quite on board now it's only 7 weeks to go (ah joy!) and is taking his zinc like a trooper. Although he likes to call it ji*zinc as that hilarious to him!0 -
Hi all, I'm new to the thread and was after a bit of advice about what I should be doing to prepare to TTC, apart from the obvious multivitamins/folic acid? I'm overweight so have joined Slimming World which is going well but don't know anything about cycles etc!!
Hi AmyTurtle!
Sounds like you're already doing lots of good stuff.
What I started doing before TTC-ing was start noting down the days of AF and working out my cycle length and likely ovulation time. An easy way to do this (really easy if you have an iPhone or iPad) is to download an app such as Fertility Friend. Buy a digital thermometer (make sure it's a specific Basal Body one with two decimal places so it will measure 96.75 for example - not just a "normal" household one). Use it to take your temperature every day. The temperature and cycle monitoring are the easiest way to find out how your own cycle works and if you have an average length and when ovulation takes place.
There are other things but those are good starters!
Hope that helps and if you want any other advice, don't feel shy about asking on the actual TTC-ing forum!!
Hugs to you - and everyone. I remember the waiting game!!!Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -

I know right!
We had a little conversation earlier because a friend of mine (who I think I've mentioned on here) posted her scan photo on Facebook earlier...less than two hours after her scan! OH hates all of that so we won't do it.
Oooh 7 weeks, exciting!!!
Final countdown tomorrow ladies....I start my last box of pill!
Like I said above it probably won't be my last box because OH will find a way to wriggle out of doing it. Sometimes I think he doesn't want to DTD...
Oh how I don't want to start the next box but I know I need to at least finish this round. Starting to lose weight and have given myself until the 25th Sept to lose what I can (but maybe the pill will make me lose weight.......I can dream, right?)
I just have to remember that we want to make sure this baby will have everything it needs and for us to be comfortable financially, which is very important. I know he wants to get a job with better hours, but that means his pay might go down which might affect the mortgage we can get.
Arghhhh.
Can someone give me some good convincing lines to spin to OH?

I sometimes think there is never a right time if you tried hard enough there is always a reason to put it off for a bit longer. However at some point you just have to bite the bullet and get on with it. It takes 9 months minimum to end up with a baby and that's if you get lucky first go. Lots of things can change from a job/life point of view that you just can't plan for.
My OH keeps banging on about depleting the savings pot with the new car. He forgets that I'm going to be working for at least another year filling the lot back up again.
Lack of forward thinking!
Lulu just tell him it's happening, fail to get any spare pills and see what happens. At that point he will no doubt just go along and have accepted it.0
