    Hi,

Are you saying that you have now got the 2 Barclaycards running with the 0% offer? and balances transferred to each? or am I misundertsanding or missing something from earlier posts?

I'm trying to apply for the Premiership card as well as the standard one, although I see it may need a bit of credit limit shuffling from one to the other (if application is successful) to get the most out of the 2 cards...

  • Ermm, no I just have the one barclaycard (premiership) on the 0% offer and no other barclaycards. BTs have been made to two other accounts, although I should have made it to my bank account.

Their process is a bit slow. I recieved a letter today, returning copies of bills I sent as proof of address, informing me that they'll let me know when they've decided if I can have a card, even though they sent me one last week!

Ok, I was confused when you said you transferred to 2 cards, not from 2 cards...

After much arguing,...I have finally got BC to do my BT on the original deal, that they kept saying they would not do, in common with a lot of others on here. I had thought of applying for the sister card to try that way, but now no need to. :)

    Yep, persistance pays off. ;D
Hurray for Martin and the site, couldn't have done it without em.

Would appreciate any suggestions with my following situation

In aug/sept I applied for a 0% balance and $1 min spent ... was given limit balance of $560 only at a poor 21%

... because of the low limit I didnt touch it. I rang them today to see if I could still do a transfer and they say yes but at $50 month min spend because I didnt do a transfer in the first 3 months. However they did say they would be prepared to raise limit to $5000 if I make a transaction and pay it off before my next statement is due.

Having only been in the UK for under 12 months I have had problems getting credit cards as most require 3 yr residency before issuing. I am therefore very interested in the possibly of having my limit raised to $5000. Would I be wise to use this when it reqs $50 month min spend or should I not touch it with a barge pole.

I have read martins articles and posts but very confused given my current situation.

I think you should get the £5k limit - but only spend what you can pay off in full at month end.

Showing a good record of repayments against a higher credit limit will improve your credit rating and make it more likely you'll be approved for other, much better offers than 21pc APR. Try for a better card in six months time.

Don't bother with balance transfers onto the card now that you're on the punishing £50/month spend scheme.
Just treat the card as a stepping stone to better credit.

    Hope this helps! :)
  • Unfortunately it seems like have now become one of the many having big problems with Barclaycard over the original N0% offer - where you spend a minimum of £1 per month.

I applied on one of the original N0% forms (kindly sent to me by Beefster) in October 2003 and was accepted for a Barclaycard Platinum card with credit limit of £7700.

On the application form I (probably foolishly as it turns out) asked for a balance transfer of £5700. However, as stated many times before, there was no mention on the t&cs of a max bal transfer of £5000 at 0%.

Anyway, on my first statement, I was charged a few pence interest on a £700 balance transfer with the remaining £5000 at 0%. I rang up to complain, actually spoke to someonme helpful who agreed to refund the interest on my next statement.

All was fine until I got my 2nd statement. This included an interest charge of £3.93 on the £700 bt. Again I rang to complain and spoke to customer service who said they would write to the Finance department to resolve the problem.

I assumed this was being sorted but I have just received my 3rd statement which includes a further £3.95 interest charged on the £700 bt. I rang up customer service who told me that the Finance department have flatly turned down my request for interest to be refunded and the full £5700 to be at 0%.
    >:(
Consequently I have just sent in a written complaint along with a copy of the original terms and conditions which give no mention of the £5000 limit.

Is there anything esle I can do at this stage? Has anyone been through a similar situation, and what was the outcome? Any advice would be much appreciated.
    :-/
    TIA,

Seems like the £700 they are treating differently is more pain than it is worth. I would move this amount to a short-term 9-month % card, just to be rid of the hassle.

Just make sure they leave the remainder on 0% for life. ;)

That may not be possible, I'd stick to my guns if I were you. If you accept the interest then you could end up paying it (compounded) until the cheapest balance transfer is paid - remember they will apply monies paid in the order that they choose not the way you would prefer.

    Easier said than done Wispa.

Galstonian - yes it is possible but only with a lot of hassle.

I made a second transfer to BC as at the time I was told by a BC person it would be at 0%. Was it heck! What should appear on my next statement? Yep you've guessed it - about £8 in interest.

I spoke to another BC peep who said if you want to pay the extra off "just email us" and we'll make sure the amount being charged at 6.9% will be taken off leaving the 0% amount.

So I paid it off and sent an email from the website (this in itself was difficult to do - you get about 200 words in which to give your comments). They still removed the amount I paid off from the 0% transfer and not the 6.9%. I had to speak to yet another person who actually agreed to refund the interest. But then what turns up on the next statement? Yep - more interest. They're refunding that too.

Anyway, i'm now waiting for the next statement with bated breath. ::)

I wonder if Iain is reading this thread...

He seems to get more to do from this site than he probably gets from his proper job.

    Iain!!???
