Paul, yes you have to stick to your guns and keep asking them where in the t&c's it states the £5000. Then when they look and cant find it they go and ask their supervisor. They then tell you to write in, which we did with a photocopy of our original application form, we then had to email several times but eventually they have sorted it out. Just keep going because they never reply so you have to keep on at them but it is worth it in the end.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

Just phoned to chase, spoke to some other woman who informed me that it says on the application form that 5k is the limit. I only took a photocopy of the T&C's from the app form, but even if it does say so on the other part of the application form surely it HAS to mention it in the T&C.
Anyway the original woman is apperently going to phone me back.0 -
paul8811,
Barclaycard have recently formalised the limits on their Terms and Conditions relating to balance transfers. See post:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=BCC;action=display;num=1070643493
I Don't know when it was changed, but you could be affected by it if you did apply in November.
However, this is for £50 cards - not £1/1p cards - but I dare say Barclaycard would rely on it because of when you applied.
If you relied on the 'Blue' form, which is explicit about the '£1/1p' requirement, but is silent about the £5000 limit, then I think you still have an argument in your favour. So press on!
[PS they are not right about the £1K part - that should be at 6.9 APR anyway!].....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
I recieved my new Barclaycard about 3 months ago with a credit limit of £1200 and a £1 minimum spend, i did a balance transfer of £1100 and the operator told me that i can increase the my credit limit in three months she also said i can transer five times within 1yr, i rang after three months and increased my limit to £4000. I rang to transfer the rest of the balance which i had and i asked would it be 0%. she said no! :-[ they said to me only one transfer on 0%. can anyone help me on this? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I've just received a statement that includes £15 worth of interest on my balance transfer even though I have the £1/0% card and even though I've been donating via Paypal to this site every month to qualify for the 0% since I got my card back in October.
Rang them up, 'you have to spend £50 a month', no I don't, 'oh, in that case you have to spend OVER £1 a month to qualify'. Tried hanging up and ringing again and still I'm getting the £50 a month thing - I'm putting my foot down and someone is ringing me back.
This is a bloody nightmare.....is it worth it?!0 -
Replying to the last two posts:
1. One Transfer Only: That isn't the rule, but the 0% transfers (£1 min) had to be made inside the first three months. BC has changed this now and says inside the first 2 months. This may be while you're caught - it is fightable, but it isn't easy to do so.
2. Is it worth fighting? YES YES YES. You need to spend £1 a month, if you do it should be 0%. Don't fight this month and you'll be charged next month. Don't let it play silly buggers, stand your ground.

Just to look at the other side of the coin........
Got my card with £2450 credit limit. As I have no CC debts I transfered max allowed in cash to my current account, thus reddies to use anytime. Set up £1 min spend to Sight Savers via this site and what do you know........
Two statements later I have been neither debited for the £1 donation or charged any interest!
I am chasing sight savers to sort the donation out but it just goes to show that BC are not to good on the paperwork front.
My wife was refused a 0% card unless she transfered her credit limit from her other BC....... So we asked to do this and she got a nice £7000 limit with £1 min spend and 0%. Sorting out the transfers today...... fingers crossed again!

Glad you got lucky with the missed charity payments. I've set up mine with Mencap and will check payments have been taken at barclaycard online - at least for the first few months!
Did a £2k BT on initial application form and £3k in 2 BTs over the phone. (Maximum is £5k @0%) You must confirm the terms when you make the BTs - calls are recorded so they have to get it right! They will squirm and wriggle, but gave in easily enough for me. ;-)0 -
Eventually got he 'premiership' barclaycard (0%/£1 min) after several weeks and after persuing them by phone just before Christmas.
I phoned up to 'activate' it and did the maximum balance transfer (in a month) of £5K to two different cards, since they hadn't done the ones I stated on the application form. The chap stated they would be at 0% if I spent at least £1 by the 16th of each month.
I then registered to access the details on line and today noticed that the transfers are at promo rates which is good. There is also £2 against 'outstanding authorisations', not in the payments sections, but this £2 is deducted from the available credit limit. What does this mean??
Also to make sure I soent £1 this month (and to give time to set up a continuous payment) I attempted to put £1 of diesel in my car using an automatic pump (i would be too embarassed to hand over the card to some one for only a £1 payment). Anyway I misjudged teh pump and it jumped from £0.99 to £1.02, so at least I managed teh £1 min spend!
Thanks to Martin and all others who promoted this deal and explaining all the T&C etc.0 -
Uh? Last time I posted something I was classed as a 'money saver' with 2 stars. Have the thresholds changed? I must post more messages!0
