  • HELP!!
Am totally confused. Have the £1/0% for life card. Transfered a balance of £2600 which I (rightly or wrongly??) assumed would be interest free. Why am I being charged £14.92 this month?? It actually states on statement "Balance £2600 - Interest 0.561%"
Sorry if this is a really daft question but I can't get my head round this at all!!
    Thanks for your help.

  • Just spoken to Barclaycard Customer Services. Apparently I did not do my £1 spend in month of Oct!! Can't believe it. Have been informed that there is a transaction for 'Hard Rock Casino' but that does not count as there is also a credit back against it!
Good job I won at Hard Rock!!! Eh?
Have to make sure I set up the £1 charity donation to aviod this in future.

    :'(

First posting anywhere on the site so bear with me!!

My partner and I managed to get the 0% and £1 spend card form from BC and have got our cards. We transferred from Halifax Visa and were given a pants Credit limit of £560 for both of us (£360 and £650 on each of our old cards) so can only transfer a mere £310 as this as what has been set for our account.

They paid Halifax £310 before the cards arrived and now we've got no idea what to do. Want to get the balances on the Halifax Visa transferred somewhere asap so that we stop paying such a lot of interest.

Probably only got £700 max to transfer and thought that BC would be the best option. Thought wrong didn't we!!

    Help!!!!!!!!

Could try marbles.com (instant decision online and low earnings eligibility) which is 0% for 6 months again, I think.

Could also try Capital One for life of balance rate. They ought to give you £1000 credit limit (and can transfer upto 90%)

[If transferring onto either new card, please don't spend on them afterwards. Just the first two cards, I could think of - plenty more out there. So do look around.]

  • Hi...I received my card last night £8200 limit @ £1p/m min spend (application took about 3 weeks). I originally requested a transfer of £6000 from my egg card, so when I phoned to activate my card & confirm the transfer I was informed that only £5k would be @ 0% & the other £1000 would be at 6.9%. Only my egg transactions it also shows to credits of 5k & 1k.

So having been unable to find anywhere in the T&C that states the 5k limit I called customer services this morning & the woman I spoke to thought that the 5k limit was for a single transfer limit & thats why there were 2 transactions. So she is going to confirm if the full 6k is going to be at 0% and get back to me.

Hope this post makes sense as its to early for these figures, but will update later
  • heard back from customer services & she said that 5k is at 0% & 1k is at 17.9% (even though my interest rate is 14.9%), so whatever I pay off will come off the 5k, leaving my 1k to grow with interest >:(

I said it didn't mention in the T&C about the 5k limit, she says it does, i said it did & so on.....So I hav faxed her the copy of the T&C from the application form I used & the T&C from the letter attached to the card.

Any one got any advise, the only way round this i can think off is to transfer the whole 6k back to egg & then the 5k back to barclycard..a bit messy but should work :-/

They did this with me but I got it sorted out to my satisfaction (interest refunded, £10 sweetener and entire balance at 0%). If they will not let you pay off the balance attracting interest first then they have not followed their own terms and conditions and have, effectively, deceived you into paying interest and will be very hard pressed to justify this. Have a hunt for previous postings on this subject. Write and complain (email or fax will do) explaining that you were never made aware of the terms they are applying to your account and explain that you want the entire balance at 0% for life. Ask them to refer this to the finance dept for clarification.
  • Yes, I had same problem but you have to be persistent. Keep emailing, writing and phoning. They don't respond to your letters even though I sent mine recorded delivery including a photocopy of the original application form which never mentioned anything about £5000 limit. Finally got my interest back and the whole lot (almost £8000) put back to 0 per cent so it was worth all the hassle in the end. Didn't have so much hassle with the £50 from Halifax, just emailed once and it was put into both our accounts immediately. Just trying the cahoot £50 at the moment.

  • So shall I just stick to the argument that it doesn't mention the 5k in the T&C

Unless you want to give up and start paying interest.
