mobile connections problems

Hi
I am new to this and have just started to read the forum. There is so much to read so I have gone to the last Page.
I and 2 members of my family bought contracts in Nov 06 and all have had nothing but problems. not only cashback ones but also being charged for text messages when i have replyed to ones received from mobile connections to say when i would receive my cash backs (or should i say, meant to receive). i have made many calls and sent emails mentioning the trading standards and consumer direct and sale of goods act but my emails were deleted before being read. No one was willing to take ownership of the problem.
i was at my wits end by the end of it but managed to get 9 months of cashbacks. I then received the letter to say that dialamobile was taking over and the cashback changed (yet again they changed the t & c which were not the ones i bought with my contract).
Ref. the new letter i am now awaiting my 14th bill to arrive to send back for cashbacks 10 - 14 but was then told by my dad about this forum and that they have stopped trading. my contract is on orange so i spoke to them about it and my complaint was put forward. i mentioned that orange would have paid commission the mc and i bought the contract on the understanding of the cashbacks and if these are not honoured then it does not make orange look good. I later received a text back from orange to say that any problems i have are between me and mc and i will still have to pay my airtime as mc contract was a separate one. so they were not interested.
I have been reducing my tariff everyone month by £5 (original being £40) as i was told this was the most i could reduce it by each month. i now am on a £25 month one and was told this was the lowest but have seen an email dated 8/10 on forum that they go down to £20 but i have not been offered this and i am on a 18mth contract. i was going to increase it back to £40 in time for my 14th bill to show the orig. tariff so as to not loose my cashback deal (mc said to reduce your tariff means to forfeit your cashback) but by the looks of it i will not be getting any more cash back.
what is best thing to do as i have also emailed kazia mohammed who is meant to be one of the bosses for everplus as well as sending complaints to dialamobile, availacall and mobile connections.
Also it may be worth me saying, on Watchdog on Wed. 17th Oct they will be discussing mobile cashbacks.
cheers

We are a small family support charity who have been unfortunate enough to have 6 contracts with mobile connections on a so called 'monthly' cashback scheme. 4 months down the line we have not had a penny back! Orange will only offer a reduction from £40 per month per phone to £25 per month. Orange have also told us to write to Tenor Recovery, Dukes Bridge House, 23 Bridge St, Reading, Berkshire. RG1 4SA.
If anyone has any other suggestions that will help we would love to hear them - especially if we can get out of paying £240 a month. thanks0 -
Purchased 12-month Vodafone 500min+250SMS package (£35/month) from mobilephonesontheweb at the end of July.
Registered my detail with Dextra a month ago.
Received a call today. Confirmed that cashback will not be received from dialamobile.
Vodafone however offered a rescue package - same mins+text but at half price (£17.50/month) for 12 months starting today.
Confirmation letter will be sent and I will have 4 days to change my mind.
Sounds pretty reasonable to me. I am quite happy.
Has anyone else currently on Vodafone heard from them?0 -
I just got a call directly from Vodafone regarding my contract with mobilephonesontheweb, you know the one from Birmingham where they went belly up & we lost all our cashback recently!
VODAFONE have just phoned me & offered the following (to save a loss of thousands of customers I suspect)...
1. To cancel the contract after one months time without penalty (& don't even want the phone back)!!
2. To pay half price line rental until the contract expires (but keep the same minutes & texts).
3. & I like this one the best...if you say "no thanks i'm not interested & would like to cancel my contract", they will then (or should) offer you the following...as they did with me...
PAY JUST £5 PER MONTH UNTIL THE CONTRACT EXPIRES NATURALLY & KEEP THE SAME AMOUNT OF MINUTES & TEXTS. IN MY CASE 500M/250T
whooooppppeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Now that's a result...it was looking grim for a while....WELL DONE VODAFONE !!!!!!0 -
I can confirm that Vodafone are contacting customers who have complained to them about "mobilephonesontheweb" and its sister companies, and offering that they be released from their contract.
I was called today by Vodafone after I had written two letters to them complaining in the last few weeks. I was told that my contract was going to be cancelled immediately (it has over 10 months left to run) and without penalty, they didn`t want the phone back, and they provided me then and there with a PAC code so I can take my number with me to a new provider.
While I`m pleased that Vodafone have finally done the decent thing, and are sorting out the mess created by their own management of commissions to phone retailers, it`s a pity they couldn`t have done this weeks ago when apparently thousands of customers were calling them (so many they set up a dedicated team to deal with the calls), and they flatly denied responsibility.........could it be anything to do with the fact that mobile phone cashback is due to be covered by BBC's watchdog programme on Wednesday at 8pm I wonder?
If you are chasing Vodafone, and not getting satisfaction, you could try contacting their "customer relations team" (this is not the same as customer services apparently!) on 08704 500 005 . Sorry I don`t have non-0870 number, but hopefully some bright moneysaver will post one.....0 -
HI benjyf
ref. your email - Anyone who bought a phone from dial a mobile in their shop or over the phone, should be ok for the following reason. When you signed up for your contract, you "signed" two contracts. One contract with mobileconnections (or one of their affiliated companies) and another with the network. MC has to send the second contract on to the network for it to work.
How would we know if mc did send it off or not. I bought an orange contract with from them over the phone at the end of Oct. last year on an 18mth contract as stated in my email below yours. I was going to call the network to try to get out of the contract and if i mentioned what you had said, then they may just say they have the other contract as well so no getting out of it.
please let me know your thoughts.

Same problem as every one else. 4 months into a 12month contract taken out with ORANGE through MBOTW over the phone. Orange do not want to know and tell me that once I started using my phone my contract with them was binding although I never yet signed anything, and that the only thing I can do is starting from month 6 reduce my monthly line rental by five pounds each month until it is down to twenty five pounds. Never ever again will I have anything to do with Orange as they could at least try to do something to help like some of the other networks.0

I think more to the point, stay away from all cash-back deals. They are bad news. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Orange will have paid out the retailer's commission, so it is asking a lot to expect them to also help you as well.
They will know that they won't be getting you back again as a customer and have decided for whatever reason they will live with that.0 -
I have some info.
I have just spoken to orange and said they are not doing anything to help us where as vodafone are offering to cancel contracts and 3 are helping people ref. to the money they have lost. They said they are reducing tariffs but I said people can do this anyway and it is not an extra. They said that normally you have to wait 6 months b4 doing this. I said they have not helped me as I changed mine after 9 months but could only downgrade by £5 per month. They said nothing else they can or have to do. They did give me an address to try to get my money back from and this seems to be an email one = dialamobile.recovery@tenongroup.com
I suppose it is something.
Let me know how any of you get on who try this.0
