Reading the follow up posts and reading the statement several times, I think some clarification is needed before sending the termination letter.
 Thanks for the responses!0

That post by Mohammed A conveniently ignores what has been posted by Birmingham TS on their official website:Network providers such as Orange and T Mobile etc. are refusing to allow customers to cancel their air time contracts.0

I have the same query and this probably applies to a lot of others. What happens to the guys who have downgraded.I have 2 contracts with Orange and I have agreed to downgrade both lines to £20.00 line rental. This will take effect from tomorrow. If I try I may able to cancel the downgrade but this will mean I will received a bill for £80.00 to pay for the both lines.
No sure what to do now - What you all suggest?
Also I no lonegr have the phones in which the contract relates to. Any suggestions will be much appreciated .
 Thanks
Correct me if I am wrong. But, even if we have downgraded we can still revert back to older tariff. Orange agreed to do this if I inform them 10 days before billing.
The statement on trading standards is confusing too. It doesnt clearly states that we can for sure terminate the contract without any penalty and that we are not legaly bound to the airtime providers.
I am in a state of more confusion than celebration.
 Any inputs will be appreciated.0

            Hi,
I have just contacted Birmingham Trading Standards and they have advised me
that even you have downgraded the tariff; you can still send the letter out. It
depend what was said when you were offered a downgrade.
In my case, my tariff has already been downgraded but they did not notify me
of minimum contract e.g. 12 or 18 months. So if my thinking is right then
 "No minimum contract exists".0

Under the terms of the contract, the service provider has to terminate the contract once the customer gives the correct notice.
As already posted, should you still be in the minimum period of your contract, then there will be a termination fee to pay.0

I think the concerns raised are right. I just rang Trading Standards and they said that even if I haven't got a contract with Orange and the contract with Mobile Connections is void you are probably still tied in. I was advised to go trading standards in person on Monday and show my documentation to be sure of this.
I will let all know what the outcome is.0
