Thanks.
I am currently with the AA and was thinking of moving to Norwich union anyway since they were about £50 cheaper, however using this info I managed to get the AA to match the price after I said I was not going to renew.0 -

I insure my car with Zurich and they give me free breakdown assistance. On the one occassion I called them I had a breakdown van with me in 30 minutes.
I think most comprehensive car insurance policies offer free cover. It's worth checking before paying for it.
I think it was also mentioned somewhere else that if you have a Gold Service account with Llyods TSB they also give you free cover.

when they give you a price ask them to recalculate using code CQM1.
posted originally (I think) by Father Christmas.
I did exactly as you suggested, and it worked perfectly. They quoted me £88 for a mid-range cover. Then I asked them to recalculate using CQM1, and the price for the top cover was slashed to £44.
Autoaid @ £29 was cheaper, but I decided to pay the little extra to save myself the need to remember and write to reclaim the cost of repairs. I think its worth that ! Many thanks for the tip - it works, and I have recommended to other friends.0 -
Hi,
I ended up using First Call GB for my breakdown cover. All in for around £40. I had to call them out twice last year and I can highly recommend them.
This includes:
Assistance at home and onward recovery
I also bought some annual travel insurance through travelinsurance.co.uk who included European breakdown cover as well for £63.
HTH someone.

I've just got my insurance via Norwich Union and the code CQM1 definately still works!
I wanted Roadside, Recovery, Homecall & European on joint personal cover on two cars and their original quote was £144
After recalculating it came to £97 plus two extra months free (ie 14 months cover).
They did sound a bit funny about the reference, and asked when I received the mailshot & if it was before the 15th... I quite rightly said that I'd got it off a friend & I assumed they must have got it before then.
One other tip... if you are going for joint policies or two cars... always give the details of the less risky first... eg usually the newest car & the Female driver.Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -

Vehicle Based I've just got £55 using the website quote as I forgot to phone before they closed at 10pm
However, using the CQM1 code when I phone up tomorrow, do you think much will come off the price? If anyone has tried this, could you tell me how much?
Also is it better to phone before 8pm when the calls are answered in the UK or after 8pm when the calls switch to India where they may be a little more helpful?
I'm about to renew AA Membership currently personal membership Option 100. I'd like to upgrade and will mention this offer to them. Think they'll match it?0
