I have just rung Norwich Union, spoke to a charming chap in India. I asked for a Car Recovery quote for all the services plus Euro cover. My car is a Fiat Punto 3 yrs old. Quoted £105. I then asked if he could re-quote using CQM1 and came out at £65.56 with a bonus of 14 months cover.........sorted. It is a shame I have already bought some flight tickets to Dinard for September and hired a car. As I have not driven in Europe before I can practice driving on the wrong side with the hired car and when I go back in the Spring will be more confident.SallyD0

I got through to a very rude and arrogant chap who kept harrassing me to take out the policy. He refused to apply CQM1 because I don't have insurance with them.
How come some of you got the price slashed even though you don't hold their insurance? I got £58.49 for Roadside, Recovery, Home and Onward travel for vehicle based membership for 14 months but that isn't anything special as there are many companies offering that! I wouldn't have taken it out anyway as he was so pushy.0 -
I am surprised they would not accept the discount code. There was no hesitation when I phoned this afternoon. Had the discount code been applied then the price you were quoted would have been roughly halved! making it a real good deal - try again.?SallyD0

He gave me a price which was £5 more expensive than the web quote. I may try again before 10pm... but if I get the same advisor I'll give him a good mouthful0

Ive just rung the 0800 096 4704 and got through to a lovely chap in India. I wanted European cover only, but he said I would have to take out the Rescue in Uk too. He quoted me £56.75 and then applied CQM1 which took it down to £41.37. He told me it was £26 European (which does not get the 50% discount) and £15.37 (was £30.75) for the Rescue.
Very pleased as the closest I came to an annual European only was £49 with horshaminsurance.co.uk, only saved a few pounds but got a Uk cover included.
Thanks a lot.0 -
Good News! I phoned again today and asked them to recal using the code and it slashed itself by 50%!!!! Fantastic!
My dial-up is too slow to load up Page 1 of this topic (it's taken nearly 5 mins to get to this thread!) so a big THANK YOU to whoever discovered and posted this code! A big hug to you (a manly hug if you're a bloke).

Can't find any indians, lovely or otherwise to help me use this code. Got a Scot who told me the code was only for customers of NUD who already have motor insurance.
My problem is that my wife and I are covered by our Lloyds TSB plainum bank account.
I'm looking for breakdown insurance for my daughter who is at uni and who is insured on my car all year and my wifes car on nominated times up to 90 days per year.
I would consider single trip breakdown cover but can't find it anywhere.
Can anyone help?0 -
Hey! Rang back after 9 pm, got the nice indian bloke who sorted me for the discount. He seemed to just apply the code without running off to his supervisor. Don't you just love people who show initiative. Just hope he doesn't get in trouble over it.
Also, he said I could cancel the policy within 14 days if no claim is made which is tempting. £32 for a max of 90 days driving is still steep, so if anyone knows of a more suitable cover for my daughters circumstances I'd still be very interested to hear of it.0 -
Got a NUD online quote for £74.
I then rang 0800 096 4704. Got through to the call centre in India, told them I was an existing customer. Passed exactly the same details as I had used for my online quote. I was given a price of £48, saving £26 over the online price.
I then said "Please apply discount code CQM1 and tell me the price." The lady duly did, without querying it further and the new price came out at £24. I then said "I'll take it!" All in all a saving of £50 for a couple of minutes work.
