This is another article of benefit fraud. The scale is huge ....

    http://www.benefitfraud.org.uk/prosecuting-sentencing-benefit-fraud/
    http://benefitfraud.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/light%20sentence

The root cause of the problem is the system itself that create incentive for people to cheat, the chance of getting caught are low, if getting the sentence is often too light.

Reduce the amount of benefit the people could get, change the benefit system instead of getting cash people should get meal voucher instead, people will witness that the trend will be reversed.

I've reported two people twice. Nothing has happened.

My neighbour has reported me several times....never gets anywhere because she is reporting me for misclaiming DLA and I don't actually claim DLA, she just assumes I do.

Her favourite subject when talking to other neighbours is how nothing is being done to stop me misclaiming, which is how I get to know about it...they don't like her much.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

meal vouchers dont pay utilities or replace worn out shoes. or by the multitude of inedible things that are needed to live day to day.

or are you saying that disabled people should merely be kept alive and allowed no quality of life?

My father, until I had word in his ear, used to help 4 or 5 guys fill in their forms for their wages as they called it. They all keep meticulous records of what they said when and being honest they not the brightest stars in the sky therefore need help with the form filling but it doesn't seem to stop them having a v lucrative window cleaning business.
The couple two doors down from my parents have a mobility car, the only mobility problems I have ever witnessed them having is when the arrive home after an afternoon at the bowling club. They also had the cheek to phone the police as my friends car had broke down in front of their house, public road, and asked them to get it moved it was only there a couple of days until the part to fix it came through.

Also the couple next to my parents only the woman is registered as living there as she gets more money, recently got a new kitchen fitted and when my mum asked how she managed that the kind woman volunteered to give my mum a lend of her hammer to cause some damage which would mean she would get a new one. They have no phone and a few occasions very bodies have phoned my parents and asked them to take messages to her which they have refused after the dogs abuse she gave them when they first tried to pass on a message.

Across the road, they took all the money for the new baby and went on a weeks holiday to Tenerife as she said that they council or social would give her stuff cause she had none and they wouldn't see the baby starve etc

It does seem to be that those that lie well will always get away with it, whereas genuine cases are made to feel like criminals.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j
  • Hmm I'm one of those too (as are all public sector employees). I had to go on training last month, how bad of me to ask them to pay my hotel and train out of their public purse.
Made me snigger as an ex-public sector. Even better for me was during my uniformed time and I had to fly out to Oman asap. There was 1 seat left on the BA flight - first class - awesome. I thanked the public purse :rotfl:

    1. It sickens me that having worked so hard I was able, when offered, to retire from career job at 55 and now do voluntary work and the odd bit of freelance (albeit it meant I couldn't achieve all my life aims) while a neighbour, who has worked for about 2 years in last 40 wheels in his 46 inch TV over his new wooden floor and sits in his new settee BUT only when the pub is closed. That sickens me.
    2. If a claimant is 100% honest then they have no worry about investigations do they ??

You're right, they're committing benefit fraud, cos only those with undeclared income or huge credit card bills can afford such niceties. Legally entitled to benefits don't stretch that far, no matter what the Daily Mail tells you.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Do it. That's what relatives did at a wedding to a guy who was always dancing at weddings but he painted a different picture to claim DLA.

I was a witness to an assault, where a foul mouth man flew out of one of those little, low 2 man tents to punch the owner of the camping site. He was very quick on his feet. When the case went to court, he staggerd in on two sticks and said he couldn't have done what all the witnesses said he did as he had been on full benefits for years because he could hardly walk and was in severe pain.

He musta been at a lot of weddings to have been exposed thus. I've only been to three in the last twenty years!

Genuinely disabled people are different they are legally entitle to benefit so they are not benefit cheaters

The problem here is that it is not that easy to differentiate between people who are really in need then those who pretend to. The current system create those incentives for people to cheat.

There are recycling center out there for people who can not effort to buy shoes, clothes. In addition there are charity shops out there collecting second hand items and might give away items for people in need. For utility bill, living in council house where utility bill included will solve the problem.

When I was a student and traveled abroad for holiday, I knew I would be experiencing a good quality of live if I stayed in 5***** hotels, but instead I was staying in a hostel to share a room with 4-10 other different people because I know I could not effort to pay a deluxe room in 5 star hotel.

When I was a student I know that living in a mansion like those in Kensington garden would give me a good quality of live but instead I was living in a student accommodation where sometimes I could hear my fellow flatmate making love.

I accept inevitability what I could effort and what I could not .....

How do they manage to fool atos? I've read about people with genuine claims having to go to appeal. Why don't the frauds get caught out during this process?

Because Atos is a failure. They are unable to grasp the reality of living with long term illness or disability, but give credence by those who hobble in on sticks, require constant care, yet skip down the street merrily when they realise they've fooled another sucker!
