You will be surprising that many people who are getting cash in hand illegal income such as working as illegal Taxi drivers, builders, doing delivery services / couriers on weekend are actually benefit cheaters.

    The options are:
    - Benefit topped up by illegal income
    - Working on minimum wage

Which one to choose ? Is not that obvious ....???

Do not blame these people but blame the system. Any rational people in this situation will know what to choose.

Why there are not any benefit cheaters in China, India, Indonesia or any other emerging economies ?

because there is no welfare system? great! but what they have instead are high levels of homelessness, people living in ghetto, poverty-stricken communities where there is no running water or power, incredibly high levels of child and maternal morbidity and mortality, children scavenging on rubbish tips to make a few pence, higher levels of petty crime and the need for the 'haves' to live in gated communities away from the 'have nots', public servants who can be bought by the highest bidder, more frequent incidences of civil unrest, people working for pennies in buildings that collapse on top of them....list is endless.

Personally, I prefer to be part of a community that looks after it's own, even if some of it's own take advantage, rather than one that shrugs it's shoulders when the average joe falls on hard times. Sadly, too many people, in my opinion, don't understand what 'hard times' are until it happens to them.

That is in Hong Kong not in mainland China.
Ok I accept that Hong Kong is part of China but Hong Kong is separate administrative region and should therefore be treated separately.

i reported someone for benefit fraud today,

they are claiming disability benefit and have lied on forms to make it seem worse

they are also getting carer's allowance when she does not need caring for at all.

but she has told me she is getting a lifetime DLA award does that matter ??

    what will happen now?

    will they investigate ??

will she be called in or something ?

i do feel bad for doing it but i don't think that it is fair :(

how long does it usually take for it to be investigated?

I've reported two people twice. Nothing has happened.

Err... ever thought there may be no case to answer?, we can not be judge and jury and accuser, sorry it did not work out for you, but that is real justice at work.

You can see how in some of the trouble torn countries neighbours who seemed to live civilly side by side end up meeting out their own twisted justice at the first opportunity.

Err, did you ever think that I might be absolutely certain about the two cases in question? I wouldn't have wasted my time if I were unsure. I can assure you it is not 'real justice' at all.

<sigh> i bet you stand behind your net curtains all day dont you?

what will happen now?....someone about who you are probably ill informed about may lose benefits to which they are perfectly entitled to while they are investigated by the dwp stazi
