<sigh> i bet you stand behind your net curtains all day dont you?

what will happen now?....someone about who you are probably ill informed about may lose benefits to which they are perfectly entitled to while they are investigated by the dwp stazi

i really dont underdstand your reaction.

genuinely disabled people are under attack from this government and the public at large are fed, on an almost dail;y basis, stories of people fraufulently claiming disability benefit.
these cases only make life harder for the genuine cases as the finger is pointed!

surely it is in everyones interest to ensure that all people claiming disability benefits are actually entitled to them?

Nannytone they are just that, stories, idle gossip, very few are found to be true.

did you ever think that I might be absolutely certain about the two cases in question? I wouldn't have wasted my time if I were unsure. I can assure you it is not 'real justice' at all.
Err. I believe You are certain of what you thought you new, You thought you had evidence but as no Charge/Action was bought you could be wrong.
If you are that certain complain to your M.P

i personally know a person that is appwaling a failed ESA assessment. he openly admits that he is making his condition up. he hasnt worked for 10 years and has no wish to work ( unless it is cash in hand) his wife works and he was quite happy with his incapacity benefit as 'pocket money'

he said ' i will play the 'nutty card at the tribunal' ( very insulting to people with mental health problems)
i asked him how he would do that. just shake and cry.... i can cry at the drop of a hat!
i asked what he3d do if he failed the tribunal. he said hed have to get a job
i would report him if i knew his address etc.

i hope they are just storied because its frightening to think that other people also know someone like the case i have just given, because god knows how many people are scamming the system!

Intriguing how people don't believe that people are not 100% honest on their forms yet then say reporting is unfair. I only have direct experience of my grans AA claim, I would have no issue with anyone following her for a year, contacting her carers because the form was truthful.

Is it fraud to exaggerate or tailor your conditions to descriptors? I think that is the real debate, others think its the end to a means whilst some consider it fraud.

i reported someone for benefit fraud today,

they are claiming disability benefit and have lied on forms to make it seem worse

they are also getting carer's allowance when she does not need caring for at all.

but she has told me she is getting a lifetime DLA award does that matter ??

    what will happen now?

    will they investigate ??

will she be called in or something ?

i do feel bad for doing it but i don't think that it is fair :(

how long does it usually take for it to be investigated?

I hope all the facts you claim above are correct and can be proved!

The problem is the ones that play the system know how to. In the case of someone I know who lives with their high earning partner I'd expect them to find they were single. The partner gets all mail to his mothers, there is no paperwork to tie them, yet he lives there 24/7. Short of watching them for a month the evidence points towards a single parent.

it also wouldnt bother me if anyone watched me.
but i dont have a condition that varies.... and i also wouldnt notice them watching me ;)

ive just thought of another person that was claiming incapacity benefit for years for a bad back whilst working as a delivery driver .... but he lost his ESA a while ago because of the 365 day rule ( jis wife is a nurse)
he now has a full time job.

what are the chances of me knowing 2 people that are claiming/ have claimed fraudulently if they are just 'stories'?

apart from the 'cheating' aspect, the biggest issue is that people like that make life harder for the genuinely ill/disabled

    Why?

If the person is investigated and she has been cheating, she will be dealt with.

If she hasn't been cheating or it can't be proved, her benefits will continue.

I know of 5 who found work once WRAG conts ran out after a year or now claim carers for a relative. They do care for them, that isn't in dispute but its a fact they became well enough to care/work once ESA stopped and were on IB for years. Are they ill? They are not 100% fit, but were always capable of working as ran a home, looked after children and elderly parents - it for the ones I know provided an income to be a stay at home parent as their partners earn too much for tax credits. One was on HRc, LRM and ESA, more money than she'd get part time (her words).

But fraud is 0.5 so I guess this is a story
