I think it starts with erratic and missing periods, which can take 2-3 yrs to settle down then stop altogether. Menopause is when periods have stopped , I expect you all know that anyway lol.

hope none of you are having a hot flush in todays temps!

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Kitiara , it sounds like the start of it to me . I had my first hot flush at 50 . I wasn't sure it was one and then I gradually got more . I don't think I've had too bad a time compared to others . I didn't really sweat at all . My face can go red but hot flushes have just been feeling really hot around the midriff , chest area. Never had to change clothes or bedding . 11 years later I can still have a flush now and again . Friends mother was still having the odd one at 80+ ! I'd never been an anxious person but I do have some of those feelings now . Usually they're a bit irrational but sometimes it's worrying over the future , health and growing older etc . Someone mentioned loss of libido . No one I know talks about that . I don't bring up that topic and I don't say anything to DH either . Very rarely have a migraine now , one good thing !

I was on depo provera injections so never got periods.
but my nurse said I had to come off them, which I did just over a year ago, periods never returned.
I went outside about 4 times tiday, kasted about 10 mins each time before sweat was running rivers off me :( x

  • I am so glad to have found this thread, as I too am on the awful menopause journey.
I was naïve enough to believe my colleague at work who told me she just ignored the menopause and it just came and went and she didn't notice it. I though this was sound advice until I started going through it then I realised it there is no way on earth that I can ignore it!

So did you have the Mirena in when all the stuff started? If so how long had it been in?

I had mine renewed last year at 47, so it's quite fresh, I noticed when the last one got to the end of the 5 years sore boobs and light periods returned, I'm guessing that's because the hormones were running out.

This is my second, renewed 2 years ago at 47, and my problems started about 12 months ago. I used to get the hormonal migraines so I knew what they were, ans when i went to my go after 4 months of noting what & when she suggested i try the patches, only 25mg so not a mega dose but enough for now and can be raised if need be.

In many cases, its not so bad, dont worry till it gets you lol!

Unless you can afford to buy the wealth of books on the subject, I found it hard to get real practical advice and experiences of it.
Is this still a hidden topic these days ? When we can discuss most other things? loss of libido? that went long ago..DH says he isnt that bothered either- works too hard ! A bit sad, but hey ho! OH!... and the last time it was very painful .. cream required now OMG !

Sorry I am meant to be sounding positive lol!
