My best friend went through it with theMirena in place. It was a complete non event and when it was removed she was just fine. Lucky cow!
She only knew she had become post memo from some blood tats.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
That's encouraging Arty, and reminded me of something else that I was wondering, if it really does help how would you know when it was over, now I know, thanks.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I'm 49 and had aching limbs & joints, the return of my pre-period migraines, my IBS went into overdrive, mega mood swings (poor DH - we'd only been married 2 years & I turned into a PMT monster!), weight gain - which can all be indicators of falling oestrogen levels. I have a Mirena and my GP suggested I try oestrogen only patches, which have been fab for me.peachyprice wrote: »Has anyone gone into menopause with the Mirena coil in?
I had mine replaced last summer and they told me that it would help with symptoms so they're just going to leave it there now. But they were a bit vague as to how it would help.
I don't know whether it's supposed to delay it or lessen it.
It makes it more difficult to work out when your periods are becoming erratic, and if you go on HRT it will be oestrogen-only.
TBH I'm hanging onto mine, as I don't want a pregnancy at almost 50!0 -
So did you have the Mirena in when all the stuff started? If so how long had it been in?
I had mine renewed last year at 47, so it's quite fresh, I noticed when the last one got to the end of the 5 years sore boobs and light periods returned, I'm guessing that's because the hormones were running out.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Hi Ladies,
Just wondered if anyone else is unsure if they are going through the menopause or not?
I am 50 and for the last few months I have been having really severe nightime hot flushes / sweats, during the day they are only occasional and more of a feeling of being hot and bothered rather than the full on flushes or sweats. I don't have periods due to problems with flooding in the late 90's and had to have an endomitrial ablation so have no idea if my periods are now irregular etc. I seem to be having more aches and pains than I did this time last year, but don't seem to have any weight gain (one blessing I guess) which I believe can be a symptom I have been to the GP who sent me for a blood test to check my hormone levels and this has come back "normal - no action required" I have no idea what is going on with my own body at the moment.I do not have a short attention sp .....oooh shiney!!0 -

Sounds like the menopause to me.0
